Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

In our opinion the EOS R6 sits at the top of Canon’s current mirrorless camera range, largely because it ticks so many boxes and is a better all-round camera than its higher-priced sibling.

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

The Canon EOS R6 is one of a duo of full-frame mirrorless cameras from the big-name in photography. It represents a coming-of-age for the EOS R system and shows off what this heritage company really is capable of when it puts its mind to it.

Superb autofocusing, Great all-rounder, Fast shooting

4K video overheating issues, Fairly low resolution, Pricey

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

The Canon EOS R6 might be the mirrorless alternative to the very popular EOS 6D Mark II DSLR, but it’s way more than just an upgrade. Its autofocus performance and image stabilization are best-in-class, while a blitzing burst speed makes it perfect for any sports or wildlife scenario.

Best-in-class autofocus, Excellent full-frame IBIS, HEIF file support

4K video recording limitations, Disappointing dynamic range in JPEGs, Expensive for an enthusiast-level camera

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

Whilst the Canon EOS R5 may have had all the lime-light, and been the centre of attention for all the right (and wrong) reasons, thanks to having a stand out feature of 8K video recording, It's the Canon EOS R6 that's likely to be of most interest to most photographers.

Excellent image quality, Good resolution electronic viewfinder, Great vari-angle touch-screen, In-body image stabilisation (IBIS), 4K 60fps video recording, Dual SD card slots, Very good handling and controls, Impressive noise control

Shorter battery life with EVF, Doesn't offer 4K DCI video, Limited compact lenses available

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

A night and day full-framer

Lovely to hold and control, Fast frame rates and autofocus, Solid low-light skills with IBIS

Costs more than closest rivals, Overheats when shooting video, Relatively low-resolution sensor

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

The resolution might seem low for a camera of this type, but the resulting quality from this full-frame sensor is superb. Add on-board stabilisation, more advanced autofocus than before, and heaps of speed when it comes to burst shooting, and the R6 certainly appeals.

Great image quality from full-frame sensor and RF mount lneses, Electronic viewfinder is of great quality and scale, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system adds Eye/Face/Pet detection

20-megapixels is kind-of low these days, Video capture limitations (time/overheating known issues), Price could be more competitive

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

The Canon R6 is impressive for landscape photography. It has remarkable dynamic range to capture a wider array of highlight and shadow detail, which is ideal for landscape photos. It also performs amazingly well in low light, with excellent noise management when shooting in dimly lit conditions.

Remarkably wide dynamic range., Great noise handling in low light., Weather-sealed.

Not very portable., Sensor doesn't have the highest resolution compared to competitors.

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

Generally, sports such as car racing and skiing involve movements, which sometimes can be quick. That means even with a good image processor, shooting sports with a slow shutter speed will result in image blurring due to the subject movements.

The full-frame sensor and quality image processor makes the camera suitable for shooting high-resolution images for large-format printing, The dual pixel CMOS AF in this camera enhances subject tracking, allowing you capture shoot photos even if the sport involves fast actions

The camera sensor and image processor tends to overheat, and might shutdown unexpectedly, making you miss the moves, The 1.5 pounds weight might exhaust you if capturing prolonged game sessions handheld

Canon EOS R6 Kit (RF 24-105mm F/4L) No Adapter - Brand New review

The Canon EOS R6 offers much of the capability of the EOS-1D X III in an enthusiast-level mirrorless body. It's only a 20MP camera but one that can produce great results across a huge range of photographic challenges.

A wide range of photographers, anyone looking to adopt the RF mount.

Stills + Video shooters needing utter dependability.
