Canon EOS 7D Mark II

Fast and feature-packed, but the Canon EOS 7D Mark II isn't the showstopper we'd hoped for

Canon EOS 7D Mark II review

There are various ways to appraise the 7D Mark II, but none of them compels us to give it an unreserved recommendation. Compared to the original 7D, its autofocus sensor is significantly improved, it's a little faster in continuous mode and much faster in live view mode, it has GPS, interval...

Canon EOS 7D Mark II

The EOS 7D is probably the best APS-C DSLR which Canon has made.

Canon EOS 7D Mark II

After publishing a detailed Canon EOS 7D Mark II First Look in September, we have now received a production unit. It was supplied with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens , which we reviewed in July 2012.

Good all-round performance; Fast, accurate autofocus; Weatherproof and rugged;

Canon has made another fine all-round enthusiast DSLR, but it's not mind-blowing on the tech front

Fantastic Camera for Sport and Wildlife

This is a seriously good camera. It is ideal for sports and wildlife and the autofocus is awesome. Took pics of a dog running towards me and in 2 seconds the 20 plus pics were all in focus. Reassuringly heavy, new sensor, 10 frames per second, all make this a great camera.

10 Frames Per Second; 64 Cross Point Autofocus; Bright LCD; Cf Slot; Comfortable Controls; Crop Sensor F Lngh X 16; Customisable Controls; Easy To Use; Exposure Bracketing Funct; Fast Shutter Speed; Gps; Great Image Quality; High Iso Capability; Sd Slot; Strong Construction; Video 1080p; Weather...

Crop Sensor; Eos 5d Mk 3 Not Much More; No Articulating Screen; Price High

Under the hood the 7D Mark II is an entirely different beast than the original 7D. It appears that instead of focusing on increased resolution, Canon focused on improving virtually every other system on the camera to make it easier for photographers to capture the the photos they want.

10 frames per second shooting; 65 point all cross-type autofocus sensor; EV -3 sensitivity for center AF point; Fast autofocus; iTR metering sensor with face detection and subject recognition and tracking; Dual-Pixel autofocus for live view and video; Control layout virtually identical to 5D Mark...

iTR struggles to accurately track moving subjects; especially fast ones; Comparatively poor base ISO dynamic range and exposure latitude in Raw; Spot-metering not linked to AF point; Soft video lacks detail; Long screen blackout during live view shooting; No AF with continuous shooting in live view,...

Canon EOS 7D Mark II

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II is an update to a classic. The original EOS 7D was released five years ago, and has long been considered royalty among APS-C sensor DSLRs. A refresh was long due, though.

Good image quality; Decent burst performance; Fast; reliable AF

Lacks 4K video recording; No Wi-Fi
