Canon 5DS and 5DS R Review

The 5DS and 5DS R are the new high-resolution kings for nature and landscape photography. You need the best to stay competitive, or you may as well go home. The 5DS has no built-in flash. I use the 320EX . As always, only you can answer Is It Worth It - to you.

Ten years ago Canon launched its 12.8MP EOS 5D, a camera that opened the door for many enthusiasts to shoot with a full-frame sensor. Fast-forward a decade, and Canon has continued the 5D line with the launch of the S and S R models.

Canon sharpens its image with 5DS R (hands-on)

The 50-megapixel models in Canon's EOS 5D series of full-frame cameras aren't expected to ship until June, but Canon released some preproduction versions, one of which I got to shoot with for a couple of weeks. According to Canon, the photo quality isn't final yet; while past experience tells me that it probably won't change much, keep in mind as you read and look that it's all subject to change.

With 50-megapixel resolution and anti-aliasing-filter cancellation, you'd expect the 5DS R to be the sharpest Canon yet. Take a look at what a preproduction sample of the camera yielded.
