Superb Lens

This is my 5th L lens and may very well become my favorite due to its versatility, weight, great IS and image quality. I wrestled with whether to get the f/2.8 lll, but, after reading the reviews, it seemed that the only advantage was the 1-stop aperture availability, which is a valid consideration.

Love this lens

This is a fantastic lens! Possibly the best value in the Canon line. Quick accurate focus with beautiful results. It is f/4 so one has to understand limitations vs what a f/2.8 version may deliver, still I am able to achieve excellent images in challenging light with my 6D.

Quick Accurate Focus Lightweight multi-use price

Excellent lens!!

I just got this lens, I have taken some nature shoots, sport shoots, and portrait, all have exceeded my expectations! I am still learning this lens and the 6DMarkII I just bought but if you are indoubt go for it this is a huge step up : 0 ) A big plus in even higher ISO's the resolution is very...

Great Lens

I have used this lens for about two months now. Focus speed is lightning fast and accurate and the L glass is perfection. It's a little heavy for a walk around lens (I use the 17-85 mm for that) but it is always in my bag. You won't be disappointed.

Second purchase of an outstanding lens

I have been the 70-200/4 L IS since it was introduced in 2007 and this is my second one after the previous one was given to a relative as a Christmas gift. The pictures from both units are consistently sharp indoors or outside and the constant f/4 aperture makes it easy to satisfy clients and family...

Consistent Output; Durable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Strong Construction

Perfect Lens

I bought this lens rather than the f2.8 version because of it's size and weight. If compared to the f2.8 version, this lens is approximately half the weight, and noticably smaller. This lens is a joy to hold and use because it's really light, and yet it produces outstanding pictures.

Very lightweight, built like a tank; Zoom ring and the focus ring are all smooth

Sound of the motor is audible

I believe I got mine in 2006 or 2007 and it has never disappointed. The f4 works for most outdoor use and it is a lens you can carry easily compared to the 2.8 with foot. The amazing quality really showed when I used it with my now retired film body, but also shows when my 17-85 is at telephoto and...

Amazing image quality and image stabilization

No weaknesses; Nicking it on price would not be fair because the big white Canon lenses are top tier and it seems like they spare nothing to make them

very nice

The lens focuses very fast with almost no noise. The IS function is a nice touch, but I am not sure how practical it really is. Having upgraded from an entry level lens, this lens is much heavier. Images are sharp with great color.

Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Easy To Clean; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM review

Like many of Canon's L-series (luxury) lenses, this one is finished in cream or off-white, rather than the usual black. The idea is that the outer surface reflects more light, and therefore incurs less heat build-up when used in bright sunlight for long periods of time.

Sharpness across the zoom range; weather sealing; autofocus speed

Good but not great for chromatic aberration
