I borrowed a friend of mines lens before I just purchased one from B&H.Here is my final analysis of the Canon EF 28-300mm F/3.5-5.6L lens. Weight is only 190 grams more than the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens.

I have had this lens for 10 years or so, it's amazing. I shoot weddings predominantly, it's sharp, it fast enough (could always be faster, but modern bodies with noise-free high-iso make this a non-issue).

This replaced the same lens and i could not be without it, it's a great lens.

It may be a little bit heavy but it is by far my favorite lens. The image quality is amazing in this top of the line lens. (6 months use)

The lens was second-hand and whilst there is a minor issue with the smoothness of the zooming, the lens was priced accordingly.

This is a wonderful lens. It has just one drawback, and that is its weight. I wish it were lighter, but I've got plenty of arm and back strength, so it's doable. It takes beautiful pictures over a wide zoom range, so it is now my everyday lens.

This lens stays on my 1DSIII 95% of the time. I also have the 24L, 100L IS, 100-400L with 2X&1.4. Granted it is fairly heavy but I do hike Yosemite with it.
