Not quite 4K but can't tell much difference unless u know
The "BenQ W1700 4K UHD HDR CineHome Projector, Home Cinema, DLP, 2200 Lumens" could be used for presentations to a business audience and also, perhaps primarily, for entertainment purposes at home.
In this day and age of 4K, we can't deny that there are a lot of buzzwords around; and to have the ultimate experience, you will need to have a 4K screen that supports HDR, adequate HDMI wires, as well as the 4K Blue-Ray player or console that supports this.
The BenQ CineHome W1700 4K projector is priced at just $2,499 and also adds in HDR (high dynamic range) to provide surprisingly high picture quality. For our review, we set up the BenQ W1700 in our home theatre and aimed it at our 150-inch screen.
Affordable; impressive quality for the price; HDR10 compatible; easy to set up; compact unit
Black levels and 4K upscaling could be better
The BenQ W1700 is the latest in a fast-growing line of affordable 4K projectors. Despite also claiming support for high dynamic range (HDR) playback, it costs just £1500. This price looks even better when it transpires that in many ways the W1700 is genuinely talented.
Crisp; sharp; detailed 4K playback; Surprisingly bright with HDR sources; Great value for what's on offer
Black levels could be better; Some colour issues with aggressive HDR content; Some contrast issues with aggressive HDR content
The era of 4K was once only ruled by TVs, with projectors only joining the fold with large and pricey models. The BenQ W1700 is a surprising new addition for the company, and what's even more surprising is the fact that it puts 4K projectors at a much more accessible price point than ever before.
Attractive price point; Strong 4K & HDR performance
Faint light border; Needs more HDMI ports
If you've been looking for a moderately-priced projector that's well-equipped to deliver both quality 4K and HDR home cinema experiences, the W1700 makes a very compelling case for itself.
Great 4K experience; Surprisingly good speaker
HDR isn't quite as dazzling as it is on a TV; No built-in 4K Blu-ray player
Make no mistake, this is a good projector for the money. Skin tones are balanced, there's a good level of detail, and its upscaler is of a reasonable quaility that means even your DVD library won't go to waste. There are a few aspects that we'd like to see improved, but on the whole, for anyone...
Sharp and crisp picture; Balanced colour range; Impressive upscaler; Easy to use; Small size
Not as punchy as we would like; Motion could be smoother
This projector does a good job, reasonable 4K . Worst customer service I have ever experienced! So if it breaks down good luck fixing it. Amazon was happy to refund 5 stars to Amazon.
The BenQ W1700 is a 4K HDR projector. It is for those that are looking to build a home theatre and want a capable 4K projector. The projector has an MRP of Rs 2.25 lakhs.
Good 4K HDR performance; Works well for movies; TV shows and gaming; Easy to use remote control
No Dolby Vision support; Only 1 HDCP 2.2 input
