Excellent PC speakers get slightly better

In terms of competitors, there are plenty of other swanky multimedia speakers out there, several of which we haven't reviewed. One set we did review, the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1, looks great but the A2+ sounds better and costs half the price. Other competitors incorporate Bluetooth connections.

The Audioengine A2+ is compact set of attractively style powered stereo speakers that delivers impressive sound for its size; This new "plus" version adds a digital USB connection, an output for an optional subwoofer to the existing two audio inputs, and a redesigned smaller power connector

The speakers lack a remote control; the volume control is inconveniently located on the backside; and there's no way to toggle between inputs.

Audioengine A2+multimedia speakers review: Excellent PC speakers get slightly better

We're fans of Audioengine's original 2 series speaker, the A2, which came out a few years ago and retails for $199.99. Now the company's released the A2+, an enhanced version of the same speaker that adds a USB digital converter, so you can plug the speakers right into the USB port on your computer.

While they'll cost you $50 more, Audioengine A2+ multimedia speakers improve on an already great product (the A2) with slightly better sound when hooked up to your computer via a new USB connection.

Can't be Beat.

Pair these or the A2 (no USB) with a good DAC, one that has a remote and you'll love the sound of your digital music collection.

Amazing sound for the price

Volume control is in the back but my DAC has a remote

i have the latest version. First impressions were of a bit dull and congested sound. A few months later, I have done a 180. The sound has become outstanding, it just takes a good while t get there. Rich, warm, full, reasonably strong and clean at higher volumes.

Big sound, small profile!

The reviews don't lie. If you're looking for a pair of desktop speakers that provide superb sound qualities in a small package, don't look any further. These speakers provide clear and warm sound reproduction that rivals, if not beat, many speakers that have significantly larger drivers.

These speakers suffer from the modern problem of weak little speakers trying to sound like big speakers. I bought these for my younger sister thinking they'd have that nice full well rounded room filling volume that all of my other old bookshelf/floor standing speakers have.

Audioengine A2+

This is the perfect speaker size for my desktop pc. These are by far the best pc speakers I ever owned. With the speakers turned all the way up, and the PC sound turned all the way down to level 2, there still pretty loud. If you hook these up by USB, sound and clarity is amazing.

Great speakers. Gotta try get them to understand!

Been eyeing these for a long time and honestly compared to a lot of the speakers on the market and price you can get one that is better. But like I said I've eyed these for a loooooong time. It's honestly the best I've used so far hands down. Yes, a little pricey but honestly worth the money.
