Simply the best headset I have used. It looks nice (unlike most "gaming" headsets), very clear audio, sound card is very capable and they are easy to drive. Also this design of a semi headband really helps increase the comfort.
When Audio-Technica, known for their microphones and audiophile headphones, released a gaming headset, I knew it would be great. The ATH-AG1 is their first entry into the gaming market. Let's see what they bring to the table. The box is very eye catching.
Superb audio quality; Very comfortable; Included DAC; Good mic quality
Weak suspension; Price
This is by far the best headset i've used. I was previously using a USB condenser mic and a pair of Sennheiser HD598s. I was always worried about moving away from the Sennheiser headphones, concerned with losing audio quality. The quality on these is amazing.
The Audio Technica ATH-G1 gaming headset is a passive offering, seldom impressing in the context of its overblown asking price. That isn't to say it's bad – it simply pales in comparison to its rivals in most areas. The overall design lacks a punch, and the unfortunate absence of any customisable audio profiles and robust build quality prevent it from being anything but acceptable.
Sleek and simplistic design; Audio is loud and clear; Simple and easy to use on a number of devices;
A little on the boring side; Lack of customisable audio profiles; Doesn't do much to sell its 'premium' namesake;
Comfortable and sturdy, the Audio-Technica ATH-G1 makes for a solid gaming headset – and it isn’t half bad for music, either. However, its relatively high asking price might make it a hard sell.
Detailed audio performance; Detachable mic; Platform flexibility;
A bit expensive; Lacks audio-tuning options; Stereo only
Audio Technica isn't new to us here at TechAeris. We've previously reviewed their headphones and now it's time to check out their gaming peripherals starting with the ATH-G1 Gaming Headset. The headset will work with your favorite system whether it be PC, Xbox, PS4, or Nintendo Switch.
A great headset for any variety of gamer.
Microphone vocal reproduction; Compatible with all platforms; Lightweight; durable construction
Quiet voice transmission; Easy to accidentally adjust volume dial
