Not used it yet as it did not come with Blu Ray player software and I have not managed to obtain the software for my computer as of yet .Brought Nero thinking it had a Blu Ray option but I could not get it to recognize this drive.

Bought this to watch Blu-ray movies on my older iMac (less than the 'recommended' CPU speed and video card) with 3rd party software as required. It works on the main USB connection with no need for the extra power connection!
Nice compact unit. Very fast writing. I wasn't expecting the two USB plugs on the cord (to give it extra power), so that was a surprise, but I just plug them both in and it works perfectly. Haven't tried it with just one, although as I've got a very new laptop, I expect it would work fine with one.
Only after I purchased it, I learned it does not include a software for blu-ray playback. In the description, it talks about 3d support, 2d to 3d conversion and 'Magic Cinema' 1080p upscaling all indications of a software which can play blu-ray disks. So its promotion text is in a sense misleading.
Light and portable; Burns and writes to blu-ray and dvd disks

Good writer. Fast. Comes with good software, but should include BluRay video player software. Also requires two usb porta for power.
I'd recommend it if you never move it. I used it very often on the road, and woke up one day with the USB connector broken after having it in my bag with the cord connected. It was a great product, but I expect better wear from an ASUS product.
Great slim burner; worked well with MacBook Pro and Alienware
Stand was a little confusing to set up; USB interface broke after a year worth of use
While this worked for the month I used it. It just quit - nothing different. Plugged it in after not using it for a couple of days and it isn't recognizable by my computer. I put in a disc, it whirls a couple of times, green light blinks, then it quits. Doesn't show up as connected.
I asked if it would play blu rays on the Laptop was informed it would. The laptop not able to support this format. Very disgusted.
This external drive will not read blu ray disks using my new MIS gaming laptop or the other two hi-end computers in my home. It takes at least 10 minutes to view the folders on the disk, but it will never actyakkt open a file, no matter how long I wait.
