Asus ROG Swift PG279Q Review

The ROG Swift PG279Q lives up to its flagship aspirations, and sets a new standard for gaming monitors.

Attractive design; Highly adjustable stand; Intuitive controls; Spot-on color accuracy; Insane 165Hz refresh rate

Limited input options; Gamma is too dark; Expensive for 1440p resolution

ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 165Hz 2560x1440 27-in IPS G-Sync Monitor Review

Out of the box, the ASUS PG279Q does not support 165Hz refresh rates, despite what the label on the packaging might indicate. Instead, buyers will have to go into the OSD and enable overclocking, then, using an adjustable slider in 5Hz increments, select the highest refresh rate they want available.

Asus ROG Swift PG279Q

Asus has been attempting to create the ultimate gaming monitor for a while now. The ingredients are simple enough: gamers need a decent-sized screen equipped with a relatively high resolution.

Excellent for gaming; G-Sync technology works very well; Huge refresh rate spectrum; Looks the business; Excellent adjustments

Asus ROG Swift PG279Q

A full in depth and detailed look at the new IPS ROG Swift from Asus. Combining all the features and design we loved from the PG278Q, now with a high refresh rate IPS panel. Comparisons throughout with the PG278Q.

Excellent gaming performance - G-sync; ULMB; fast response times; high refresh rate; no lag; Good default setup; All round performance from IPS panel surpasses TN Film gaming screens

Glow on dark content is remaining issue of IPS panels; Overclocking refresh rate not much more than a gimmick; Still limited in connectivity and scaler support compared with FreeSync models

SO SO SMOOTH!!

I have been considering buying a high refresh rate g-sync 2560 x 1440 monitor for a while now. I previously had a LGUC98 34 inch Ultra Wide monitor which was unbelievably good for immersion, but at just 60hz, not the pinnacle of online competitive gaming.

Dead Pixel

Frankly, i read many reviews about the Quality Control. I Didnt think it would happen to me. Dead Pixel on my screen after paying $700. Only had it for a week. Now, i have to deal with the headache of repackaging, shipping, and perhaps out of pocket expense for returning the product (shipping cost).

Great Monitor but I'm having a Flickering issue.

Since the purchase of this monitor and using various new display port cables, I got the flickering to stop by using the cable that came with my monitor. The cable that came with my monitor was made by Amphenol #E326508 at only 5 feet in length. I needed 6 1/2 feet of cable for my setup.

Great monitor! No bleeding or dead pixels anywhere; Must have gotten a good monitor; Very sharp display and loving the OSD toggle switch when moving around in the Menus; Speakers are okay if your just surfing the web and for basic sounds

Is anyone getting the same screen black-outs in games Monitor is 4 days old and when playing Anno 2205 or Doom, every 3 to 5 minutes the entire picture or screen flashes on and off repeatidly; I tried to run the games in compatibility mode but I still get the on and off blank screen flashes.

Worth every penny

If you have a video card to push a 1440p/144hz monitor then you're already accustomed to high prices. This is the best 27" gaming monitor you can get so just ignore the price. I chose this over the one of the predators because the predator's stand is flimsy and can't decide if it's supposed to be...

Fantastic stand design and build quality Image quality is unreal 1440p and 144hz is fantastic IPS colors with imperceptible lag Best OSD I've ever used

Backlight bleed on black screens (yes it's very noticeable If you have a shallow desk, the stand will put the monitor in your face. Right in it Speakers; why did they put speakers in it. You don't spend a grand on a monitor and use monitor speakers lol That's honestly it.

For the serious gamer...

If your a serious or competitive gamer then this is the monitor for you! My previous screen (now secondary) was an Asus 24" 144hz 3D monitor. However,I wanted to experience 2k (1440p) with the hope it would improve my game play.

The monitor Amazon sent was faulty it had discoloration across the screen from a dirty yellow in the top left hand corner fading to white in the bottom right hand corner could not fix this using the OSD menu or even using the icc file for calibration, obviously a faulty screen had to return it and...
