Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate review: cool customer review

Rock solid performance, with and without coooling accessories; Fantastic screen and sound; Main camera takes great snaps;

Gains over non-gaming phones aren’t huge; Secondary cameras not as versatile as rivals; Still mighty pricey;

Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate review: Currently the best gaming smartphone

Playstation. The Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is a gaming smartphone without compromises. Almost all hardware is high-end, such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage and a 6.78-inch 165 Hz display. The list doesn't end there, because a 6000 mAh battery and an external fan are also included, among other things.

The Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is currently the best gaming smartphone. Compared to its strong predec...

very high and stable performance; very bright AMOLED display with 165 Hz; fast WiFi 6E; very good battery life; attachable fan is included in the scope of delivery; powerful speakers & external subwoofer;

only 2 years of OS upgrades; heavy; no wireless charging;

I’m still using the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for one important reason

Do you take playing games on your phone seriously? I mean, really seriously? If so, the Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate should be right at the top of your shopping list, as this big, bold, and immensely powerful smartphone is tailor-made for gaming. Don’t entirely dismiss it if gaming is only one part of your daily phone use, though, as the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate also happens to be an excellent multimedia device too. There’s a lot to know about the phone’s ability, so let’s dive into what makes it special. Let’s get this out of the way now: the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is a very big and seriously heavy smartphone. It’s not impossible to deal with, but if you’re coming from any moderately sized smartphone then it’ll take a couple of days to adjust to it. It’s 77mm wide and 173 tall, plus 239 grams. For comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is 78mm wide, 163mm tall, and 233 grams, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max is 160mm tall, 77mm wide, and 240 grams. The dimensions only tell part of the story. You always k...

ROG Vision screen is fun; Amazing audio ability; Vibrant screen under flat glass; Gaming features are varied and useful; Huge amounts of power; Long battery life;

Big and bulky; Lots of hidden features to uncover; No wireless charging;

Asus ROG 7 Ultimate review

The ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is an absolute powerhouse that happily plays anything you throw at it on max (or close enough) settings. It does heat up a bit when playing more intensive games, but it doesn't get anywhere near as hot as some.

Asus ROG 7 Ultimate review

Another year brings another round of Asus gaming phones. The brand is one of the most well-known in the mobile space, widely regarded for its uber-powerful (particularly pricey) devices complete with all the extra gadgets and gizmos you could ask for.
