Astro A50 Wireless Xbox One Gaming Headset Review

Astro have done it again, time and time again they've shown me that they can make an exceptional headset that will leave your jaw on the floor. Sure it'll also leave your bank balance looking pretty beat up, but you only need to test it once to be convinced it was money well spent.

Class-leading sound quality; Flawless wireless signal; Stylish design; Dolby processing; Powerful and clear sound; Exceptional build quality; Comfortable; Rechargeable

Expensive

Astro A50 Wireless Headset

If the A50s gave you the option to customize the presets, I imagine that they would be great for FPS gaming. However, they do not and even the preset with the least low end has too much to hear any of the subtler sounds (e.g., footsteps).

Sturdy and pretty comfortable

Limited presets; too much bass for FPS use; sound not customizable; charge does not last 810 hours

With the PS4 and Xbox One having been released for quite some time now, it was only a matter of time that the platforms became the primary choices for eSports gaming here at EGL. In all honesty, I'm quite surprised at how quickly the transition was made to PS4 and XBO events, but I place a lot of...

Astro A50 Wireless (Xbox One) Review

While many gamers prefer wired headsets that avoid issues like low battery life and interference, the Astro A50 ( $299 on Amazon ) proves that a good wireless headset doesn't have to compromise.

Rich; detailed surround sound; Comfortable and lightweight design; Reliable wireless performance; Long battery life

No controller-based chat controls; Lacks detailed equalizer

Astro A50 review: Still king of wireless headsets, still expensive

The Astro A50 packs phenomenal sound and wireless convenience, if you’re willing to throw down $300.

Loud, clear microphone; Phenomenal audio, right out of the box;

Exorbitant price—you could get audiophile-grade headphones for this; Velvety earcups get sweaty, pick up lint;

Astro A50: Still king of wireless headsets, still expensive

The A50 is famous for a reason: It's one of the best gaming-oriented headsets on the market, if not the best. The 2014 edition retains that mantle. Forget the A38--this is Astro's true baby. The A50 is a wireless version of Astro's even-better-known A40 headset.

Astro Gaming A50

Great all-around performance. Both professionals and owners say the Astro Gaming A50 delivers great sound for a variety of uses. In gaming mode it transmits in-game sounds clearly with plenty of volume, and its virtual surround sound, in the words of one Amazon.com reviewer, "really enhances...

Excellent audio quality; Strong wireless performance; Compatible with many consoles and computers; Comfortable

Some reliability problems; Poor customer support

Review: Astro A50 7.1 Wireless Headset

Nothing enhances the gaming experience like a nice headset. Surround sound creates an immersive experience, and turns the footsteps of a foe into a dead giveaway of his location. Single player campaigns become journeys you won't want to back out of.

Great; balanced; audio quality; Solid built and comfortable on the head and ears; Versatile on multiple gaming platforms

Rather poor battery life; Built-in internal battery

ASTRO Gaming A50 Battlefield 4? Edition Review

Don't judge the hardware by the software it chooses to affiliate itself with. While Battlefield 4 continues to be a broken mess that somehow seems to get worse with each supposed patch, the good news is that relationship that game shares with the new ASTRO Gaming A50 Battlefield 4? Edition is purely...

Positives Sexy design; outstanding audio fidelity; all-inclusive package; supports multiple consoles and PC

Negatives Top end of the price spectrum; Xbox still requires chat cable
