All works well and no problems setting it up
I bought the five camera system, but can only get four of the cameras to work. I have contacted Arlo/Netgear via the web based tech support, but the response has been painfully slow and the suggestions unhelpful. The cameras that are set up are working fine.
4K in home security is finally here, thanks to Arlo's Ultra UHD smart cam
Beautifully crafted hardware design; Weatherproof and wireless for indoor/outdoor use; Fabulous 180-degree field of vision with little fish-eye distortion; Decent two-way audio; 4K UHD image clarity
Some features unavailable when using 4K video settings; No ability to view locally stored video without removing the microSD card; Double-tiered subscription required for 4K cloud recording
The Arlo Ultra represents some of the best outdoor security video that you'll find. The combination of 4K and HDR, good night vision and control over motion detection and the notifications you can receive all goes some way to justifying the lofty price.
Video quality is superb with 4K HDR; Lots of features; Easy mounting and installation; Works with wider Arlo system
High price; Needs subscriptions; Caveats on features; Mounting not secure; 4K live stream is hit and miss
The Nest Cam IQ Indoor was the first security camera that I tested to have a 4K sensor, although this model downsampled all footage to 1080p. That makes the Arlo Ultra the first camera I've reviewed to be able to save 4K footage, delivering some of the most impressive and detailed images that I've...
Easy to install; Excellent 4K footage; Powerful modes gives you complete control over recording
No 4K recording out of the box; 4K streaming disables motion tracking
The Arlo Ultra is by far the best smart security camera I've used: tThe footage is sharp, the features are top notch and Arlo's subscription package is both generous to those who don't want to pay and flexible enough to include those who do.
Crystal-clear; wide-angle 4K footage; Generous free cloud storage; Records in colour at night
Higher subscription price for 4K; Expensive camera; Most people can't view 4K footage easily
We review Arlo's brand new 4K camera Arlo security cameras put to the test Arlo security cameras put to the test
Brilliant footage at 4K; HDR makes 1080p superior; Great battery life
Plans getting expensive; High entry cost; New base station required
Ultra is packed with features and offers one of the best ecosystems for a security camera, if you can afford it.
The Arlo range of security cameras has been a big success for Netgear in recent years -- so much so that the company decided to spin-off the Arlo division and float the new Arlo Technologies Inc. on the stock exchange last summer.
High-quality 4K video camera; with HDR; 180-degree panoramic video; with 12x digital zoom; Integrated spotlight and siren; Colour night-vision
Expensive; Requires subscription after 12 months; 4K online storage costs extra
With its teething problems now -- hopefully -- behind it, the Arlo Ultra proves to be an impressive and versatile security device. It's expensive, and might be a case of overkill for homes and small businesses that don't want to pay the premium subscription fees.
