The laptop is good. Great screen, fast and is a joy to use for the basics. If you are a pro user, well not so. No option to upgrade the memory once bought. Intel graphics share the 8gb of ram. At work with an iMac with 2gb of dedicated ram for the AMD GPU the system will use 6gb of ram.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS AND IS A HANDY LAPTOP ONLYN ISSUE IS NO NORMAL USB port SO HAD TO BUY BLUETOOTH MOUSE
I got this during a sale, so that it ended up being about $80-100 more than the MacBook Air. I've had 15" MBPs for work for a long time, and if you use applications that are memory hogs (Chrome with too many tabs open for example) you will notice that it's a bit slower to respond, but ultimately...
My MacBook shut down without warning three times on the first day. The battery was well above 60% and it just died until powered by the adapter. I called apple and they confirmed that they are getting similar complaints for this model. For the first time I am disappointed with Apple product.
I have had Apple products for years and this one didn't disappoint, a quieter tracker pad than my last laptop, although that could be because the last one was the first ever MacBook Air, so is many years old.
I had a really great customer service experience. They let me upgrade to a more powerful computer even though I was 15 days over the 30 day limit.
