Amazon Echo Flex Review

One of the easiest smart speakers to set up, the Amazon Echo Flex is a quick and simple way to add voice control to any room. Neatly, it can be upgraded to be a night light or motion sensor, although you can use it as a low-power phone charger, too. A weedy speaker makes it only good enough for voice replies, and this is a smart speaker that has more niche appeal, with the Echo Dot proving to be better for most people.

Echo Flex review: This might be Amazon's smartest device in years

Amazon's $25 Flex might be the most important device the tech giant has released in years. The unobtrusive gadget plugs directly into an outlet, offers a fully featured Alexa (even if she sounds a little tinny in its tiny speaker) and sports a USB port for either a nightlight or motion sensor attachment (each a $15 extra).

Amazon still has work to do to protect user privacy, but this new Flex boasts some impressive smarts.

The Echo Flex is super cheap; Its USB port allows for flexible usage; The plug-in design means you can put the Flex almost anywhere in the house;

The small speaker isn't built for high-quality music playback; Echo speakers pose legitimate privacy risks;

Amazon Echo Flex review

For the price, the Echo Flex is a great little device for all your Alexa needs, except music. The night light and motion sensor add-ons make it surprisingly versatile, too.

Amazon Echo Flex review: The most flexible Echo yet?

The Flex is relatively cheap, unobtrusive, and has loads of potential. Honestly, if it wasn't so plain to look at, supported ZigBee, had a larger speaker, and maybe offered a couple more mics, it'd beat most of Amazon's Echo range, especially at this price point.

Small enough to plug in anywhere; Built-in Alexa for voice commands; Offers key Alexa features like Drop In; Connects to external speakers;

Basic design; Tiny speaker; Limited mic range; Lacks Zigbee and Dolby;

Amazon Echo Flex Review

The Amazon Echo Dot offers all of Alexa's voice control features and surprisingly good sound in a tiny, $50 package, but even that can get a little pricey if you want to spread Alexa to every room of the house. That's where the Echo Flex comes in. The Flex is a $24.99 smart speaker that plugs directly into a power outlet and lets you access Alexa pretty much anywhere, like a bathroom, laundry room, or garage. It's wonderfully affordable and functional—just don't expect much in the way of audio power.Tiny and Simple The Echo Flex looks very different than the rest of the Echo line in its bland boxiness. It's a simple, white plastic box measuring 2.9 by 2.7 by 1.4 inches (HWD), with rounded corners on the sides and a two-prong power plug on the back. Plugged in, the Flex looks almost like a smart outlet, except a bit bulkier and lacking holes in the front. Instead, the front panel holds Alexa and Mic Mute buttons, a small indicator light, two pinhole microphones, and two small grill...

The Amazon Echo Flex is a tiny plug-in speaker that lets you add Alexa voice assistant features to any room of the house.

Inexpensive; Easy to set up and use; Fully functional Alexa voice capabilities

Weak audio; Works best with a high, unobscured wall outlet
