Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

One of the best adventure games on console, with a fantastic blend of action and exploration. The Definitive Edition really is definitive, but isn't worth a repeat buy for those who've already experienced Lara's story.

Lara Croft is a believable badass; Wonderful; varied setting; An excellent sense of pacing

Side characters are dull stereotypes; Has a slow start; Definitive Edition offers few upgrades

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Review: Lara's PS4 debut is a shining triumph

Aside from the cosmetic touches and enhanced controls, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition offers the same thrilling ride the original 2013 release provided. Sure, the storyline is somewhat a predictable mash-up of action-horror cliches with a bad guy that has about as much charisma as a sewer rat, but...

Superb visuals that complement an already stunning-looking game; DualShock 4 extras are a surprisingly useful addition; The same action-packed adventure now on PS4; running and looking better than ever

No new content to entice those who already own the PS3 version; Multiplayer is still forgettable

Tomb Raider Review

Tomb Raider represents a transition for both Lara Croft and the entire series. The long-absent excitement that used to come with the Tomb Raider name has been released from its late-90s time capsule, and the famed female protagonist has undergone a startling transformation.

Transforms Lara Croft and makes her a far more compelling character; Exciting set piece moments; Optional tombs are fun

Lara Croft's transformation has a few narrative hitches; More tombs would have been welcome; Mediocre online multiplayer

When adventurer extraordinaire Lara Croft raided her first tomb back in 1996, she brought with her an exhilarating feeling of isolation and discovery. Over the years, Lara has continued to venture into parts unknown, taking dark turns and frequently tangling with the supernatural as the series...

Story believably builds Lara up from unsure academic to confident adventurer; Fascinating setting with a rich sense of history; Intense combat that offers a good deal of flexibility; Controls make physically overcoming the island's terrain a pleasure; Good assortment of tombs to raid; relics to...

Forgettable multiplayer component; Outside of Lara's character arc; story is predictable

Cream of the Croft

Impressive effort with a few noticeable problems holding it back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth most people's time and cash. How we score: The Destructoid Reviews Guide

Tomb Raider (Multi-Platform) Review

While it will, more than likely, be overtaken by other hotly anticipated titles over the rest of 2013, at this point, Tomb Raider is an early contender for Game of the Year. This reboot of a popular, well-known franchise went through several bumps and delays in development, but the end result is a...

Lara Croft Gets A Perfect Reboot

Editor's Note: This review covers the single player campaign of Tomb Raider. I admit I've never been the biggest fan of the Tomb Raider series. I did play the first Tomb Raider when it was released on the Sega Saturn.

A Survivor Is Born | Tomb Raider Review

Going into the Tomb Raider reboot was nerve-racking. Was it going to be good? Was it just an amazing marketing campaign and the actual game was going to flop? Often times, if something is hyped up too much, the end result leaves a less-than-satisfying taste in that proverbial mouth.

Exciting New Story; Rebooted Graphics Look Amazing; Solid Gameplay Mechanics

Multiplayer Leaves Some to be Desired

Tomb Raider Review: This Reboot Is Lara Croft's Greatest Adventure Yet

Developer Crystal Dynamics had a lot riding on the new Tomb Raider . The studio was promoting the hell out of the reboot and told the fans that this would not only be a reimagining of the long-lasting franchise, but of the Lara Croft character, as well.

Tomb Raider (PS3) - Review

Like any long-running entertainment franchise, Tomb Raider has had its ups and its downs. These downs were so low that we almost entombed poor Ms. Croft for all time. However, the good lady Lara lucked into a second life by way of the one thing that seems to always happen when the entertainment...
