Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mirrorless Review

For anyone doubting the ability of mirrorless / compact system cameras, this is the camera that should answer a lot of concerns. It has a weather-sealed compact body, an excellent range of lenses and most importantly excellent image quality - that is significantly improved over previous Olympus PEN...

Excellent noise performance; Excellent image quality; Excellent Image Stabilisation; 9fps continuous shooting; Extremely fast focus; shutter response; shot-to-shot etc; Weather sealed body; Excellent range of lenses

12-50mm Lens not the best - but good for macro; IS system noise

Hands-on Review: Olympus E-M5

The classy Olympus E-M5 is one of the most desirable Compact System Cameras. With its SLR-like controls, speed and feature set, it would be a fine choice for photo enthusiasts.

It may have a 16-megapixel sensor, but advanced tech allows it to shoot up to 65 megapixels

It may not be a large and bulky digital SLR, but the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II is a heavy hitting camera that's designed especially for those of you who desire advanced controls -- controls of the sort that can tailor almost every single aspect of your photographs before you even transfer them to a...

Crisp image quality; Advanced controls and highly customisable; High quality EVF

Left-hinged screen feels unintuitive on this camera

Olympus OMD EM-5 Review: Retro Photo A-Go-Go

The Olympus OMD EM-5 brings a retro design from yesteryear and crams it full of modern gadgets, bells and whistles - but is it any good as a camera?

[REVIEW-OLYMPUS OMD E-M5]

This is a 16 megapixel micro four thirds camera in a body reminiscent of Olympus OM 35mm SLRs, but a little smaller. The high resolution electronic viewfinder is built into the classic SLR hump. The LCD swivels vertically but not horizontally, so it is useful for waist- and low-level photography.

So, the first of the OM-D series cameras really has a lot of making up to do. And pro Olympus OM leanings don't actually mean it's going to get an easier run on these pages. In fact, if it doesn't deliver, the disappointment is going to be far more profound and the criticism harsher.

Olympus OM-D E-M5

Mirrorless cameras strive for big-camera quality in a little package, and reviews say the Olympus OM-D E-M5 does this better than any other camera. Like big digital SLR (single-lens reflex) cameras, the Olympus dishes up terrific image quality, a pro-grade metal body and plenty of interchangeable...

Compact and easy to carry; Speedy performance with DSLR-like image quality and controls; Tough magnesium body is dust- and splash-proof; Biggest lens selection in its class

Continuous autofocus balks at tracking moving subjects; No ISO 100

Olympus OM-D E-M5 review by halfmac

The best m43rds to date. I put my hands on an Olympus OM-D (EM-5) and I loved it right away. It left the store with me. I have been testing it on real shoots. The camera did a great job. I shot both stills and movies. When Olympus first announced the camera I was impressed but was not that excited.

Small; light; weather sealed; retro looks; great viewfinder and image quality

wish it had a flip LCD on back

Quick review - Olympus OM-D E-M5

Tweet Sometimes you come across a camera that makes photography simple. Olympus' OM-D E-M5 is one such beast. Granted, its battery life is not that great, and yes, its buttons are so small you would think it was designed for five year olds, but once set up, the E-M5 never stood in the way of a good...
