The picture below illustrates the angle of view (click here for comparisons with the Nikon 50mm F1.4D):

Excellent image quality when stopped down just a little; Fast and accurate autofocus with full-time manual override; Generally attractive rendition of out-of-focus regions ('bokeh'; Resistant to flare; Low price

Slightly soft and low in contrast wide open; Lateral chromatic aberration somewhat higher than traditional 50mm 'standard' primes; Prone to purple fringing and bokeh chromatic aberration; most visible at large apertures

Nikon AFSDX Nikkor 35MM F1.8G Lens AFSDX35 review

The 35mm ƒ/1.8G DX fills an obvious hole in Nikon's lineup, and with its very reasonable price point Nikon may have found a way to ride out the recession. In our tests, the lens performs very well, with good results for sharpness at ƒ/1.8, becoming excellent at ƒ/2.8.

Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G

The first DX Nikkor with the classic advantages of a high-speed "normal" lens ($220, street), this 52mm full-frame equivalent is also the fastest DX and widest nonfisheye digital-only Nikkor prime.

Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm F/1.8G

The Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm F/1.8G is a new prime lens (meaning it has a fixed focal length of 35mm) from Nikon that has a few nice features. Most exciting is the speed of this lens – f/1.8 – that's fast enough for many low light situations (it is the widest aperture DX-series lens available).

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f1.8G

The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f1.8G is a good, fast yet inexpensive 'normal prime' for Nikon DX cameras. Its angle of view is some 2-3 degrees tighter than that of a common 50mm lens mounted to an FX or film body, but that is not a major deviation, and those who liked to use a 'nifty-fifty' on their...

REVIEW: Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G Lens Review

This brand new compact wide angle lens from Nikon costs around £470 and sports a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture and silent, internal focusing with full time manual focus override. Is it good enough to be considered as a cheaper alternative to Nikon's highly regarded 35mm f/1.4G lens?

Nikon has no less than three 35mm prime lenses in its lens range and as well as the f/1.8 model we're testing, there's the older 35mm f/2D AF and the professional 35mm f/1.4G AF-S which costs a fraction under £1390.
