Finally decided to purchase an ac adapter for my DRI-865L. Easy to install. Files that took some time to transfer and download are breeze and much faster. Definitely recommend this product.

I would recommend this product to anyone. Once one gets it going one will see the difference in speed. The web pages will load a lot quicker. The down side to using this adapter is if one is upgrading to Windows10 this adapter is not compatible. D-link has not put out any Windows 10 drivers yet.
it improves the speed of web pages
does not work with usb 3.0
I have had nothing but problems with DLink products. I installed and re-installed this half a dozen times and it never once picked up any network even when I was right beside the network. Then when I tried to contact support they put me on hold for like half an hour!!!
Tried to resolve disconnection problems by installing latest drivers from D-Link, and then I tried drivers from a different company that was using the same Realtek chipset. Also tried swapping USB ports (including between USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports). Running on Windows 7 64-bit.
Supports the newer AC wireless protocol Current hardware revision (C1) supports USB 3.0 for greater-than 35MB/s throughput USB stand and cable included; Be sure to extend the cable for better reception
Loses its reliability after a few months; Adapter will disconnect at random
Connects at 800Mbps on the 5Ghz AC band if you're within close range of your router (max 15-20 feet). After that the performance definitely drops off. If you need the full AC speed on these at a significant distance from the router then you might want to consider adding an additional 5Ghz AC...
This USB Adapter works very well and has a very low price, but did not come with the extension cable and adapter-carriage. I definitely wanted that component in order to be able to optimize the wireless signal strength by positioning the USB adapter in the best possible way.
- Build quality. I wouldn't say that it feels flimsy or badly made, but it's light and plasticky. I suspect that the unit would break if you were walking down the hall with a laptop, the AC1200 sticking out, and accidentally banged it into the wall.
This is a good little adapter
- You know how USB ports are often closely packed together? This unit is so wide that it would prevent use of the ports above, below, and to either side; D-Link kindly provides an extension cable with a pretty slick stand which resolves this entirely, but if you are on a laptop, it's inconvenient to...
this was the cheapest USB 3.0 wifi stick that allowed 802.11ac streaming that I could find, and I am so far very happy with the purchase.
- Excellent value for the price; - Excellent range; no connectivity issues (even on cloudy days; but a lot of this may have to do with my ASUS router.; - Excellent speed; allows me to run Steam streaming from my desktop to my laptop over a 5GHz connection without any lag; - Easy to install (I mean,...
- "Cradle" extension cable is almost essential since the stick itself is somewhat bulky; - Cradle mount doesn't have a great base and can easily be knocked over (this won't affect the performance AFAIK; but it drives my OCD crazy.
This was painless to install and has been easy to use. The only thing was I saw it for a good deal less expensive on the internet. My fault for not doing my homework before purchasing - because Microcenter has a pretty painless price-matching policy.
Will not performs as stated without USB 3.
