Works with Canon Rebel EOS T2i but tight fit

I bought this lens for my Canon Rebel EOS T2i which is a few years old. I was hoping for a wider angle capability, but after receiving it and trying it on the camera, it turned out that I actually had a wider angle capability on one of my existing lenses, so returned to a Best Buy store for a full...

Image Stabilization; Auto Focus

It fits tighter on my Canon Rebel EOS T2i than previous lens purchases

I bought this lens assuming it would be an upgrade from my EF28-105 and 28-200mm tamron xr. I was wrong, both the ef28-105mm and the 28-200 are sharper at 28mm even when stopped down. Pass on this prime, 5 element construction is not enough, even my cheapo 22-55mm usm is sharper.

Small; handles flair well

soft edges; outclassed by ef 28-105mm and ef 22-55mm

Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 USM IS - APS-C Format Review / Lab Test

The (old) Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 is a relic of the earliest days of EOS. This year it celebrated its 25th(!) year in production which is nothing short of amazing for an AF lens. However, 2012 is finally also the year of its successor - the Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 USM IS.

excellent for high quality travel pictures

For starters some background: In June this year I bought the new 40mm pancake which reminded me that prime lenses are preferable in many cases. Their discrete size and the lightweight prove beneficial when walking around; but also the fact that they force not to be lazy about image composition I...

Superior build quality; Super-sharp images; small discreet size; low light performance

Very Good in Low Light

I purchased this lens due to the multiplication factor of Digital Cameras. This lens works as a normal size focal length and the wide open f-stop gives it excellent used in low light situations. I'd recommend to family and friends.

Gary Wolstenholme reviews the prime, wide-angle, Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM lens.

Good build quality; Lightweight; Image Stabilisation; Outstanding sharpness; Focuses close

Expensive; Falloff at maximum aperture

Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM

Unlike Nikon, Canon decided not to drastically change the optical design of their budget prime lenses (24mm, 28mm, 50mm). This resulted in a series of lightweight and compact lenses with a classic feel. Personally, I think these primes have just the right size and shouldn't be any bigger.

Sharp; compact; lightweight; stabilization; build quality

Somewhat expensive

Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM

The Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM is a capable but pricey wide-angle prime that will appeal most to landscape and reportage photographers looking for a small, lightweight and responsive lens.

especially for a APS-C camera but I love it.

One can say that a 28mm lens is too narrow, especially for a APS-C camera but I love it.

Excellent

It's a wonderful product. Note – the Image stabiliser is amazing allowing you to shoot photos at speeds that are 4 stops lower. For example at 1/40 your photo would still be sharp.
