Great machine. Takes a little to get used too but worth the time. Coffee is as good as any shop bought coffee and getting better.

This is the 5th machine I've owned over 15 years and by far the best one. I will probably stick with this brand moving forward.

Have used the BES840XL for more than 2 years. Have NEVER cleaned it. The secret to run an extra cycle through the steam wand, and an extra cycle through the espresso with the coffee holder off the machine EVERY time I'm finished using it. I don't use the program feature.

I bought this to replace an older unit that went bad. The 1 thing the old unit had that I miss is a double boiler. That allows you to froth milk and make espresso at the same time, which is great to make drinks for lots of people. The Breville double boiler costs more than 2x.

Speed

I will be returning it because the pressure gauge does not work. The steamer takes longer to work than I expected. The fit & finish is good and machine looks nice on counter.

Now I can make coffee as good as a cafe; Machine is also quieter than last Breville
