A grand phone: Apple's iPhone 6s Plus reviewed

If you're in the market for a big phone, Apple is ready with a new phone, and if you want it to come with all the features everyone else has plus that lovely Apple touch, the news is very good.

Very well built; Performance is top notch; Battery can get two days; Camera upgrades are worth checking out and make the phone highly competitive against other flagships; 3D Touch adds an extra level of control; allowing one handed operation; Fingerprint scanner is even faster than before

Expensive; No way of getting 4K video off the phone and over to a 4K TV easily; No upgradeable storage; as is typical with Apple

The iPhone 6s keeps the same design as the iPhone 6, but packs better cameras, a snappier processor and 3D Touch, a smart new way to get things done in fewer steps. Beyond that, the combination of iOS 9 and some well-built hardware help makes the 6s one of the best iPhones ever made...

3D Touch is a smart; helpful addition; First-rate performance; Improved cameras; Touch ID is faster and more accurate; 3D Touch is a smart; helpful addition; First-rate performance; Touch ID is faster and more accurate; Great camera helped by optical image stabilization; Solid battery life

Lacks optical image stabilization; Live Photos are hit-or-miss; Base model still only has 16GB of storage; Touch ID can be overly sensitive; Live Photos are hit-or-miss; Base model still only has 16GB of storage; Touch ID can be overly sensitive; Can be hard to use with one hand

iPhone 6s Plus review – don't be fooled by its looks

A top-notch big smartphone that's better than ever

3D Touch works well and is surprisingly useful; Fast performance; High quality camera; Sturdy build

16GB base model just doesn't have enough storage space; Live Photos a bit gimmicky

In-depth review: Apple's iPhone 6s & 6s Plus with 3D Touch

Last year's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus introduced a larger, slimmer form factor housing higher resolution Retina HD screens and improvements in processors, cameras and wireless. While Apple's latest 6s and 6s Plus models look virtually identical, the company has significantly improved nearly every key...

3D Touch adds a cool new layer of interactivity; navigation and shortcuts; Great battery life even when using LTE 4G; A9 processor blows the pants off of the other SoCs; Improved cameras deliver better photos; Live Photo novelty and crisp 4K video; Price competitive with lessor alternatives

No optical zoom or external lens features; No weather proofing options

Apple iPhone 6s Plus (Verizon Wireless)

Verizon's iPhone 6s Plus ($749; 16GB) is mostly just a larger iPhone 6s , which some people want so they have more room to watch videos and play games. But it also has noticeably better video recording than the Phone 6s, and it's a bigger panel to write and draw on as well.

Excellent optical video stabilization; Big screen is ideal for gaming and video playback; Improved network performance over iPhone 6 Plus

Expensive; Average battery life

Apple iPhone 6S Plus Smartphone Review

It was already indicated in the preview : The new Apple iPhone 6S Plus will noticeably raise the bar in respect of the processor and graphics performance. This assumption was confirmed in our in-depth review. The Apple A9 chip is currently the benchmark in the smartphone segment.

extremely high performance; flawless build quality; high stability; operating concept with a real additional value; convenient display; fast communication modules; excellent GPS module; decent battery runtimes; good cameras with nice features

iOS 9 still a bit buggy; NFC not usable for third-party apps; internal storage cannot be expanded; mediocre low-light camera performance; very high price

Review: Apple iPhone 6s Plus

Everything that feels obvious now, once didn't. This goes double for smartphones: All the pinch-to-zoom, touch-friendly interactions we now take for granted and marvel at a two-year-old's ability to figure it out, didn't always seem so natural.

Everything great about the iPhone is even greater here, because big screens rule; 4K video looks incredible; 3D Touch is going to be transformative; #rosegold, y'all

16GB is not enough storage; Battery life is fine, but only that; Touch ID kind of ruins the lockscreen

The bigger picture

Just like its more compact cousin, the iPhone 6s Plus brings superior imaging, 3D Touch, a beast of a chipset and double the RAM and those surely make it a worthy upgrade. Plus, the screen size and resolution help Apple compete in a segment clearly dominated by Android.

Used As Demo Apple iPhone 6S Plus 64GB Silver (6 month warranty) review

Image 1 of 9 Nearly a year after release, and the iPhone 6s Plus still doesn’t come cheap. The iPhone 7 is just around the corner, so realistically you should probably hold off to see if the new handset offers a significant upgrade – or what kind of impact it has on the iPhone 6s Plus’ pricetag.

Apple iPhone 6s+ Plus (64GB, Silver) - Grade (Excellent) review

The Apple iPhone "s" models keep the same form factor as the previous model while bumping up the internals. While the iPhone 6s Plus looks and feels like a 6 Plus, there are significant hardware changes making this the most compelling "s" model yet.

Lightning fast Touch ID, Functional and innovative 3D Touch, Solid camera experience, Excellent battery life, Fast and reliable performance

Top and bottom bezels are large, No fast or wireless charging
