This phone was sold to me as Unlocked, NOT prepaid

I bought this phone as Unlocked and when I received it accompanied with Verizon sim-card it was a surprise (not a nice one). I went to the local Costco warehouse and the manager of the Wireless department told me he has never seen this kind of thing but the phone should be unlocked. Nope.

Apple iPhone 5 review: Finally, the iPhone we've always wanted

Editors' note (September 19, 2014): The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are now the flagship phones in Apple's 2014-2015 product line. The 2012 iPhone 5 reviewed here is no longer sold, but the 2013 iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C remain on sale at reduced prices. The 5C is basically the iPhone 5 in a plastic body, but -- as of September 2014 -- is now only sold in an 8GB capacity.

The iPhone 5 completely rebuilds the iPhone on a framework of new features and design, addressing its major previous shortcomings. It's absolutely the best iPhone to date, and it easily secures its place in the top tier of the smartphone universe.

The iPhone 5 adds everything we wanted in the iPhone 4S: 4G LTE, a longer, larger screen, free turn-by-turn navigation, and a faster A6 processor; Plus, its top-to-bottom redesign is sharp, slim, and feather-light.

Apple Maps feels unfinished and buggy; Sprint and Verizon models can't use voice and data simultaneously. The smaller connector renders current accessories unusable without an adapter. There's no NFC, and the screen size pales in comparison to jumbo Android models.

Apple iPhone 5 Camera Review

The iPhone 5 combines ease of use with excellent image quality that rivals the best of its conventional competition (ignoring the innovative Nokia 808 PureView for a moment). Anyone upgrading from the iPhone 4S will not see a huge difference in image quality, but the leap from earlier generation models is profound. The iPhone 5's camera is one of the best around, but manual control over white balance and exposure (via exposure compensation) would be the cherry on the cake.

Excellent resolution at low ISO sensitivity settings in good light; Reliable metering and white balance in daylight; Supremely easy to use Camera App; Hardware shutter button (volume keys); Bright, contrasty, very high-resolution LCD screen; Excellent built-in HDR and Panorama modes; Effective touch-to-focus/AE and AF/AE lock options;

Luminance noise visible in areas of plain tone even at ISO 50; Lens prone to flare when bright lights are positioned at or just outside the edge of the frame; Face detection a little hyperactive (sometimes finds faces that aren't there); High ISO output (ISO 1250-3200) uses pixel-binning, which sacrifices resolution for sensitivity;

Apple iPhone 5 (T-Mobile) Review

The iPhone 5 has finally come to T-Mobile, and if you're in the market for a smartphone from Apple, pay attention. T-Mobile's iPhone is the same iPhone 5 that you've seen elsewhere, with better voice quality at a lower price. That's a terrific combination for anyone currently shopping for an iPhone. Revisiting the iPhone 5Apple's phones don't vary much from carrier to carrier, as Apple doesn't allow any bloatware or changes in design. So take a look at my reviews of the iPhone 5 for Verizon Wireless( at Amazon) and AT&T( at Amazon). T-Mobile gets the same metal-and-glass design, the same 4-inch screen, the same 8-megapixel camera, and most importantly, the same iOS 6 operating system, with its easy-to-use grid of icons and unbeatable array of apps. It's worth noting the iPhone's particular strengths and weaknesses versus newer, leading Android phones like the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4, though. On a broad level, iOS is very easy to use, but much less customizable than Androi...

Finally, T-Mobile brings you an iPhone 5. And it's fast with great voice quality, as long as you're in a solid coverage area.

Relatively inexpensive; Speedy; Supports HD Voice

Limited network coverage in some parts of the U.S

Review: How does Apple's new iPhone 5s perform as a camera?

The iPhone 5s features a very good camera that’s easy to use and delivers strong results with little user intervention. It’s a logical extension of the Apple design philosophy, with evolutionary performance increases and feature extensions. iPhone photographers looking to trade up will find much to like in the 5s, but it’s not likely to lure users who prefer larger screens or are committed to other mobile operating systems.

Good exposure across a range of situations; Good image detail, restrained noise reduction; Pleasing color rendition; Good flash with notably accurate color; Very responsive operation, negligible shutter lag; Very fast shot-to-shot time, 10 fps continuous burst; Very easy-to-use camera app; Panorama mode better than most; Fun slow motion video capture; Effective HDR mode with very little ghosting; Digital video stabilization works relatively well; Well-designed gallery (Photos) app;

Less detail in good light than some higher-res sensors; Minimal manual control in camera app; Photographic ergonomics not the best; Finicky focus confirmation can lead to missed focus; Smallish screen; No optical image stabilization; No dedicated, two-stage shutter button; Underexposed video in very low-light conditions; Filter images only exportable at low resolution;

iPhone 5s review

iOS lives up to the hype; Truly beautifully hardware; An unbeatable App Store;

Screen feels increasingly small; Lacks the liveliness of Android; Currently few ways to use the extra grunt;

Apple iPhone 5 review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Apple iPhone 5 review

Hannah Stryker / Review Geek The iPhone 14 is the latest iteration of Apple’s flagship device. Since its launch, the iPhone has set the standard of what a smartphone is, what it does, and how it looks. Fifteen years later, it’s still doing that.

Top-notch cameras, Amazing display, Snappy performance, Great battery life

It's just "this year's iPhone"

Apple iPhone 5 review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades
