Little big guy

My wife has had her iPad (generation 1) since they first came out. It was getting a bit long in the tooth and didn't run some applications very well. Our son had gotten the iPad mini for his birthday and she liked the size.

Extreemly portable; retina display; latest processor

Some things can look tiny

Great ipad

A lovely ipad - good size and really light. We bought it for farming applications, particularly for our precision seeder. The resolution is fantastic and we can store a huge amount of information on each paddock as we continue planting.

Apple iPad mini 2 review: Moving up the ranks

The iPad mini with Retina screen is everything the little tablet deserved to be - a more compact equal of the bigger iPad with no compromises made. And unfortunately, it's just one thing short of what we all thought a compact tablet should be - cheap.

7.9" LED-backlit IPS LCD touchscreen; 1536 x 2048 pixels; ~ 324 ppi; oleophobic coating; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity with MIMO dual antennas; Optional 2G/3G GSM; CDMA; LTE connectivity (data only; separate models; Optional GPS with A-GPS support (for the Wi-Fi+Cellular model only; Dual-core A7...

Expensive for a compact tablet; Non expandable memory; extra storage is largely overpriced; Tied into iTunes for uploading most of the content; No standard USB port; No GPS receiver in the Wi-Fi-only version

iPad mini 2 review

The iPad mini 2 is flawless in so many ways. From a rich app catalog to the best design on the market, the mini 2's only real downfall is its price. If your pockets are deep you'll simply love it.

Dear-ly beloved: Apple's costly iPad Mini with Retina Display

Review Last year's iPad Mini really was playing second fiddle to the regular iPad. Not merely smaller than its sibling, the Mini had a much lower resolution display. It had a less powerful processor too. It felt like a product Apple was obliged to make rather than one it actually wanted to.

Listen, I don't have the greatest history when it comes to tablet relationships. We have… a checkered past . I was pitched on this fabled third device long ago, but I can't help but feel that we've all been hoodwinked.

Introduction Apple had introduced the original iPad Mini without the RETINA display and that pretty much confirmed that the second generation of Apple iPad Mini would come with the RETINA display.

Excellent Build Quality and Premium Finish; Lot of tablet specific applications; Top notch performance; Excellent battery life

On the expensive side; Lack of expandable storage; Camera lacks flash and isn't great for lowlight performance; iOS 7 feels boring and same throughout

Review: Apple's Retina iPad mini is the small tablet we wanted a year ago

You needed to know two things about the first iPad mini. The first thing is that it was, well, mini -it was a 7.9-inch tablet from a company whose CEO once said that users would have to sandpaper their fingers down to comfortably use anything smaller than a full-size iPad.

Retina display resolves all of our gripes with the old mini's screen; A7 SoC blows the old mini's A5 out of the water and nearly runs as quickly as the version in the iPad Air; Great battery life; and the battery charges more quickly if you use the included 10W adapter; Nice Wi-Fi upgrade; although...

iOS 7 is still a little rough around the edges on this and every iPad; Air gap between glass and LCD keeps screen from being as good as it could be; Features like Touch ID will have to wait until next year at the earliest; Scattered reports indicate that some screens may suffer from image retention...

Apple iPad Mini 2

The Apple iPad mini 2 is just a shrunken, original iPad Air. With a new, lower price, though, it's become the best inexpensive on-ramp to the world of iOS apps.
