Apple iPad

The Apple iPad isn't an eBook reader, which makes it very hard to compare it to other eBook readers. It doesn't use e-ink technology, it's heavy, you can't read out of it in bright places, and the display will strain your eyes eventually.

Amazing design; Most intuitive interface yet; Full-color screen; Wi-Fi and 3G wireless; Will do just about anything

LCD display is hard to read from in bright places and will eventually strain your eyes; Battery lasts only ten hours; Heavy; Costs almost twice as much as the Kindle 2 or Nook; Additional 3G wireless fees apply (around $130

Apple iPad 3G Review

I didn't expect to enjoy using the iPad to the extent that I felt during this review. Apple may have received some criticism for calling the iPad their answer to the swell of inexpensive netbooks that have flooded the market, but having spent a substantial amount of time using one, the conclusion is...

Internet everywhere (almost; Long battery life; GPS functionality

3G is an extra $130; Crippled video apps

Apple iPad 2010 review Review

Thanks to its simple, iPhone-like user interface and responsive screen, Apple's iPad is the first tablet computer with the gadget x-factor. It won't replace your laptop for anything but the basics, but, for Web addicts, iPhone fans and technophobes, it's a tasty slice of gadget goodness

Huge capacitive touchscreen; Wi-Fi connectivity; Attractive design; App Store is filling up with apps and games; Compatible with iPhone apps; Intuitive user interface; Fast and responsive; Easy to sync and back up

Awkward to hold; Heavy; No camera; No Flash support; Limited multitasking capability; On-screen keyboard can't compare to a physical keyboard

Apple iPad (Wi-Fi + 3G)

The Apple iPad is a revolutionary, addictive Tablet PC with Wi-Fi. Add in 3G, and it becomes even more useful, just perhaps not $130 more useful, which is the premium you'll pay for always-on connectivity. And with 3G you have to tack on another $15 to $30 a month for service.

Sleek design; Gorgeous, sharp, accurate touch screen; Improved iPod, Safari browser, photo, and e-mail apps; A plethora of downloadable apps; Flexible and affordable 3G service plans

Costs $130 more than the Wi-Fi-only version; Some applications don't work over 3G; AT&T is the only U.S; carrier with 3G support; Watch our Apple iPad video review

Apple iPad review

The iPad offers a new way of viewing data for businesses. The style isn't just skin deep, and a number of applications do their bit to sell the usability of the device. The problem lies in the restrictive nature of the design and application ecosystem.

Apple iPad review

0 Flares 0 Flares × ‘Apple' - It is a name synonymous with a strong emotional response. Never has a company evoked such a dramatic reaction from the enthusiast userbase – you either love ‘em or hate ‘em, there is little room for middle ground.

Apple iPad

There are two conclusions to be made about the Apple iPad. As a product you could buy, it's a tempting but ultimately unconvincing device. Anyone with a particular penchant for Apple, or enough money to burn and a love of shiny tech, are likely to buy into it.

Apple iPad - Sheer Tablet Brilliance

The Apple iPad has been termed "revolutionary" by the venerable Steve Jobs, but how it does it actually perform? Will it render netbooks obsolete? Will the lack of flash and multitasking be a deal-breaker? We spend time with the device to find out.

Apple iPad Wi-Fi

that's too big to be considered a portable media player, yet is also too limited to completely replace the laptop.

Beautifully made; big screen; sound is good through speakers and excellent via headphones

Speakers are too quiet; attracts fingerprints; still no Flash support
