TP-Link Archer C5400X AC5400 MU-MIMO Tri-Band Gaming Router

Speedy throughput performance and numerous ports make the TP-Link Archer C5400X a solid, albeit pricey, choice for gaming enthusiasts and anyone who has multiple wired and wireless clients connecting at the same time.

Fast throughput performance; Lots of LAN ports; Works with Alexa and IFTTT; Built-in malware and anti-virus tools

Expensive; Large footprint; Short on game-centric features; So-so file transfer speeds

TP-Link Archer C5400X Review: The Gaming Router to Top

It may be big and expensive, but TP-Link's Archer C5400X combines first-rate speed, range and built-in security to rule over all other gaming routers. Long live the king.

Excellent performance; Triband design; Customization potential; Security software

Big; Can't aim antennas; Expensive

If you haven't noticed, a lot of routers come through the lab here at TweakTown . I get a few every month and so even for me it becomes difficult to put one router above the next because they all serve a purpose.

If you are going to buy a tri-band router, the TP-Link Archer C5400 is certainly an option to consider in terms of price. The router is priced at an average of 344 dollars in our price comparison, and it's easy to find for ten bucks less.

Only time will tell

Purchased this router to replace decade old Linksys. Provides pretty good coverage throughout two story property. Worked for little over a year and WiFi stopped broadcasting. During investigation, the WiFi had been disabled in setting due to "WiFi restricted in your country or region" error;...

Extremely dissappointed

Purchased 7-21-18 from MicroCenter. Extremely easy set up. Basically plug it in & go. Within a couple weeks problems started. Somewhere along the line the SSID of all 3 bands changed to the same name as the 2.4 band. This caused problems & took me a bit to realize what happened.

Absolute Night and Day difference!

Overall this is the absolute best router I have ever purchased. The signal strength is powerful and range is very far. I tried the Linksys AC5400 before this TP Link and returned it after 4 days because it was not keeping a constant signal.

Great sleek design

- None to report so far after a week of use

TP-Link Archer C5400X

By adding an 'X' to the name, pasting on some red flashes and using far more aggressive moulding, and boosting just about every single aspect of the hardware, TP-Link's Archer C5400X is a gaming router aimed at the gaming market... For gamers.

Very fast; Simple frontend; Swift setup; Exceptional 5Ghz performance

Very expensive; Not the nicest-looking device

Ticks all the boxes - Id of paid more!

Unbelievable piece of kit! If your looking to upgrade from the standard virgin router this is what your after! Full 220MB on Wi-Fi from all rooms in the house, baring in mind it's a 3 storey building and the router is on the bottom floor! Can't speak highly enough of it.

Great range

Excellent coverage, which is what I was looking for. Covers my whole house and front and back yard, approximately 3/4 acre. Signal goes right through my steel roof easily.
