I'll mince no more words and just say things as simply as I can: The Sensei [RAW] is now my favorite mouse. This baby is a keeper.
With a proper CPU, 11,400 CPI sensor, LCD screen, numerous LED lights and stunning ergonomics, is this the best gaming mouse ever?
Superb; customisable performance; Ambidextrous yet comfortable; Programmable without a PC; 3 individual LED zones in any colour; Excellent software
Not quite as comfy as some right-handed mice; Can accidentally press side buttons; No adjustable weights or grips; Some minor issues with software install
It's amazing to think that we once all gamed with a rollerball mouse. Then most of us transitioned through optical, eventually ending up utilising either infrared or laser based rodents. Today I'm looking at one of the latter, a new gaming peipheral from Steelseries, the Sensei.
Incredibly sensitive; Very accurate; Software is clean and allows incredible fine tuning; Very comfortable; Built in hardware driver; Feature set is impressively large
Looks a bit 1950s future with silver shell; Expensive; Underside display feels redundant
When the SteelSeries Sensei appeared last year it redefined what we at OC3D expected from a top level gaming mouse. It was so much better than everything else that we struggled to see how any manufacturer could knock it off its perch in the foreseeable future.
What could you possibly do with a 32-bit ARM processor in your mouse? Plenty of fun stuff, as it turns out. SteelSeries's Sensei high-end gaming mouse puts slick design and powerful hardware and software at your disposal, but the £60 price tag means it's not for the casual gamer.
If you take your PC gaming as seriously as a sport then you want the best equipment to give you a competitive edge. A high-quality gaming mouse is as important to a professional gamer as an expensive racquet is to a tennis player.
For the purpose of testing I opted for Fall Out New Vegas, this game has most scenarios and thought it would be a good all rounder for the purpose of testing. Having the option of increasing the DCPI as and when it's needed is a bonus.
I bought this elsewhere while it was reduced to £24 and I very nearly sent it back because of the 'plasticky' feel it has. What stopped me was the shape and comfort of the design. Also the performance is actually very good and accurate for my limited needs (not a prolific gamer).
Brilliant gaming mouse maybe not worth the [$] i paid for it but it is very good and will hopefully last me along time.
