Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Silver WH1000XM4S review

If you’re on a winning streak, all you need to do is tweak a little. In the Sony WH-1000XM4, the Japanese electronics maker has smartly added some new features and kept most of what’s great about its noise cancelling headphones.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black WH1000XM4B review

Sony has been making noise-canceling headphones for years, and it's gotten pretty good at it. We had very few complaints about Sony's WH-1000XM3 headphones , so there wasn't much to fix in the latest iteration.

Audio quality You'd be hard-pressed to find Bluetooth headphones that sound better; Battery 30 hours of use with ANC on is more than enough; Improved ANC Sony's improved noise canceling is very effective; Controls The large touchpads work great, and the Quick Attention feature is handy.

Codecs No AptX, which is desirable for some devices. LDAC doesn't work with certain features enabled; Design No design changes to speak of, still no water protection; Speak to chat Too apt to pause your music even on lower sensitivity settings.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black WH1000XM4B review

Despite having a ton of features, and still reigning king in noise-cancellation technology, I’m still not very into this line as much as some people are. The signature doesn’t impress me when comparing it to other wireless headphones like the or Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black WH1000XM4B review

NEW DELHI: As far as consumer audio products are concerned, Sony’s 1000XM series never fails to impress. But the problem with updating any consumer electronics product on a yearly basis is that you run out of ways to make them better. With the WH-1000XM4, Sony faces that uphill battle.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Black WH1000XM4B review

To be honest, I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the shoes of Sony’s engineers and product developers, as they set about trying to improve on the already excellent Sony WH-1000XM3.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Silver WH1000XM4S review

This may be the perfect wireless headphone of 2020

- Refined audio; ANC is still amazing; long battery life; multi-device connectivity; wear detection; Speak-to-Chat and Quick Attention

The RM1599 may be a bit too expensive; though you get what you pay for

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Silver WH1000XM4S review

The best noise-canceling performance; incredibly comfortable to wear; and now easy to pair with and switch between two devices.

Touch controls work but are a little to easy to accidentally activate.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Silver WH1000XM4S review

The Sony WF-1000XM4 are some of the best noise-cancelling wireless headphones money can buy. They sound fantastic, have effective noise-cancelling and long battery life. They support multipoint Bluetooth 5 for connecting two devices at once, high-res music with the LDAC format and an instant ambient...

brilliant sound; excellent noise-cancelling; lightweight comfort; can connect to two devices at once; hi-res music support; long battery life; good controls; good ambient modes; 3.5mm headphone socket; fold up with good case; repairable; cross-platform companion app.

expensive; voice mic is hit and miss; don’t feel as premium as rivals.

Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones - Silver WH1000XM4S review

Noise-cancelling headphones used to be only a Bose specialty for many years. Over the past few years, things have changed drastically as many competitors have come to the challenge. Sony has been the one to really overthrow them in my opinion as well as other who may agree.
