PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller CFI-ZCT1W review

It's rare that the most enthralling aspect of a new console is its controller, but that's exactly the case with PS5 and the DualSense. It's a stunning peripheral, and one which introduces features we've simply never seen executed like this before.

A bold departure from previous designs that really pays off; Solid and weighty build quality gives off a premium feel; Haptic feedback and improved vibration motors are feel truly next-gen; Improved battery life compared to the DualShock 4

White colour scheme leads will lead to scuffs and marks

Near perfect

Sony managed to expand and enhance on the already perfect PS4 controller with the Dualsense. It feels slightly bigger and has good weight. The only downside thus far is that after just a month of gaming, the textured white grip has worn away very easily at the back, which is disappointing but not a deal breaker in terms of the functionality of the controller. Time will tell if they have the same endurance as the previous generation though.

Poor design

I have been playing PS since the first iteration. I went through multiple machines in the PS3 and PS4 Gen. However I’ve only owned the PS5 for about 6 weeks and the R2 trigger has broken. It has a faulty design mechanic with the spring breaking. I’d advise against throwing away the receipt as you will likely need it for warranty.

PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller CFI-ZCT1W review

Place a PlayStation 1-era DualShock controller alongside a PlayStation controller, and you might have a tough time telling the difference between the two. Sure, there have been improved ergonomics and new features added to PlayStation controllers, from touchpads to light bars, but the overall layout...

PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller CFI-ZCT1W review

Okay, PC gamers, it’s time to bite the bullet and buy a PS5 controller . Steam now supports PS5 DualSense controllers, bringing next-gen haptic feedback, gyro controls, and more to your favorite games. The only thing that’s missing is adaptive trigger support, which could arrive in the future.

PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller CFI-ZCT1W review

Aside from it's middling battery life, the DualSense is an absolute joy to use - and we can’t wait to see how haptic feedback and adaptive triggers impact future PlayStation 5 games to come.

Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are a revelation, Sturdy and comfortable to grip, Built-in mic is a clever addition, Eye-catching design

Battery life could be better, Mic quality is passable, but no headset replacement
