So far, we're expecting pretty much more of the same–excellent high ISO results, great focusing, but not incredibly detailed images since this is just a 12.2MP sensor. But that's what the A7 Mk II and the A7r Mk II are for.

Read various reviews of whining on small buttons and difficult menus, but I myself think that the menus, you learn that at any other camera at any time, and the buttons feel solid and distinct. Coming from Canon or Nikon, you learn about, nothing more to it.

A keeper

I have used the A7SII for over a year and stunning says it all. From stills to video, especially in low light, the system performs as advertised. Have shot in all conditions with no complications save that the sensor is a dust magnet and must be cleaned from time to time.

Sony A7 II review

The A7 II’s stabilisation sets it apart from every other full-frame camera on the market. For shooting handheld video, for shooting with long lenses or for shooting longer exposures in low light conditions, it’s a star. But it’s outstanding in almost all other aspects too. Like the original A7 before it, it’s a masterfully-built, well-designed camera that delivers spectacular stills and excellent video. And all in a fairly compact package, considering its capabilities. It’s not cheap (and don't forget, the price above is for the body without a lens) but if you’re seeking the best all-round system camera Sony has to offer, this is it.

Stellar imaging quality; 5-axis stabilisation massively boosts handheld performance; Top notch build quality and design;

No 4K video option;

Sony A7 II to land in US in early December for $1,700

Sony took the wraps off its successor to its year-old A7 in Japan a few days ago, but today we get the US pricing and availability. It's slated to ship quite soon -- mid-December -- at a cost of $1,700 for the body and $2,000 for the 28-70mm kit. Australia and the UK won't get it till a month later, at AU$2,000 or £1,500 for the body only. The 28-70m kit will be £1,700 in the UK.

The faster, sensor-shift stabilized version of Sony's full-frame interchangeable-lens camera gets US pricing and availability.
