Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

At last, Sonos is able to give you the big-screen sound to go with those big-screen pictures.

Wide; tall sound; Impressive bass response; Adept with music as well as movies; Cracking control app (even in beta)

Treble has attitude; Slightly uneven frequency response; No MQA support

Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

“With Dolby Atmos and voice A.I., the Sonos Arc is the Swiss Army knife of soundbars.”

Excellent surround sound; Easy and simple setup; Decent Dolby Atmos from a single speaker; Choice of Alexa or Google Assistant

No HDMI inputs; Not ideal for all music genres

Sonos Arc - White ARCG1AU1 review

The impressive Sonos Arc takes the best parts of the company's other soundbars and combines them into one Dolby Atmos-compatible package.

Large sound field with powerful bass; even without a subwoofer; Supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant; Can easily be expanded with satellites and a subwoofer; Dolby Atmos compatibility with angled tweeters

Expensive; Only works with pricey Sonos subwoofer

Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

As impressive as the Dolby Atmos soundbar was, the system can get better with a Sonos Arc Surround Sound Package. Adding two identical speakers for the rear channels gives better positional audio and a more immersive experience, making this an essential upgrade for many.

Surround sound speakers make audio more immersive; Sub adds cinematic levels of bass; TruePlay makes everything work beautifully

Sub is very expensive

Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

The Sonos Arc delivers five-star spatial sound, but it's not replacement for a true Dolby Atmos surround system on its own, and there are some lacking features

Fantastic tall; wide Dolby Atmos audio; Excellent with music too; Great streaming and smart features

Just one HDMI port; Can't match a full surround Atmos system; Adding a sub is so expensive

Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

The Sonos Arc is a big, sleek, premium soundbar that sounds every bit as good as you’d expect from a £799 speaker. It looks the part. Despite being about the length of a 55in TV, it is neither thick nor tall which makes it easier to position on the wall or on a TV stand.

sounds fantastic with music; great Dolby Atmos reproduction; super-clear vocals; Night Sound; wide soundstage; looks good; Alexa or Google Assistant; extensive music service support; simple set-up; surprisingly good bass without a sub

expensive; ARC/eARC rather than HDMI pass-through; takes up a port on your TV; can have lipsync issues like any soundbar

Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

The Sonos Arc is easily one of the best soundbars money can buy with amazingly immersive sound and smart features. It's only hampered by HDMI issues.

Incredibly spacious sound; Dolby Atmos support; Slick user experience; Smart features

Expensive; No HDMI pass-through

Sonos Arc: Superbly composed and balanced sound but the Arc is hamstrung by its lack of inputs

Great sound quality; Easy to use and set up; Google Assistant and Alexa support

Slightly bright sound; Only one HDMI connection

Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

The latest home theater offering from Sonos delivers an impressive Atmos experience from a standalone soundbar. Add the company's Sub and bookshelf speakers as surrounds for even more intense audio immersion.

Outstanding music and movie sound; Impressive rendering of height information; Solid bass for standalone soundbar

May require latest eARC HDMI connection for Atmos; No DTS decoding

Sonos Arc - Black ARCG1AU1BLK review

Even at its most basic non-Dolby Atmos settings, it still sounds fantastic and will likely be a significant upgrade over most other soundbars

Really wide and immersive soundscape; Atmos support was needed and delivered; Clean and modern design

No built-in smart TV stuff; Needs to run on S2 app; At this price a remote would be nice
