This is a great drive, just like the many other Seagate drives I've purchased. It is a bit larger than the 1 and 2 TB drives, but works great. I use it to back up my computer and external drives. Then I move this drive off-site for a month. Every 30 days I back everything up with it.

The new small portable 2TB HD that can be powered by only an USB are definitely better than this in terms of saving space, weight, and an outlet slot. After backing up almost 4TB of data on this drive only to have it make the data inaccessible I would not recommend this drive as after I immediately...

the manufacturer does NOT tell you this but this unit does NOT work with Windows 10. I made this mistake not knowing. They will NOT refund or replace your unit. You are stuck with it. I have a memo in writing after the fact. I do not recommend you buy this unit if you have Windows 10

I bought this product for the reputation and price but it is a load of rubbish. Speed of saving drops to nothing when trying to save. I have spent half a day trying to save my computer data that is not that big, just lots of it. Speed keeps fluctuating from a good speed to nothing every couple of minutes. I have less than 1TB of data currently saved. Bought this from here less than 12 months ago. Tried to email company but cannot send complaint past their robot thing. I would not recommend this to anyone.

This drive is forming the basis of a media server. Is a great low cost/low power option for this. The housing contains a standard bare drive (unlike drives from WD) which allows it to be easily integrated into a mass storage device.

Pretty slow speeds, but excellent price for a drive this size that's portable. I use them for time machine on our macs, where the speed is not much of an issue.
