Samsung Galaxy S9+ review

When I first picked up the Galaxy S9+ I was certain it would be the better phone of the two new Samsungs. Now I’m not so sure. Dual cameras aside, there’s barely any difference between the two phones and I just find the standard S9 easier to hold. To me at least, that’s a bigger deal than being able to zoom in a little bit more than normal on your photos. If the S9+ is a better fit for you, then you’ll have quite the phone on your hands. Especially if you didn’t get ahold of a Galaxy S8 last year. ‘Cos when you add up all of this handset’s myriad charms it’s a truly awesome proposition with a superb screen, handsome design and one of the best cameras around. That’s a level of refinement that only the iPhone X and Google Pixel 2 XL can come close to. Plus, this phone won’t set you back a thousand quid. So while Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ truly is a little bit boring, it’s exceptionally good. And one of those qualities outweighs the other by quite some margin.

Stellar screen; Top-notch camera; Incredibly powerful;

Almost unchanged design; Uncomfortable to hold for some;

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is the second of two Galaxy S9 phones launched by Samsung at 2018's MWC technology show and on first impressions it's the better phone of the two. Unlike last year, there's a little more to differentiate this year's Plus-sized Samsung flagship than simply a slightly larger...

Samsung Galaxy S9+ hands-on review: More than a stretch

As with siblings, the middle child always has the hardest time. While the baby receives the most fuss and the firstborn has enjoyed the unrivaled devotion of the parents, the middle child is always competing for attention.

Expect to pay more for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ when they arrive in March

If you're planning to buy the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+, do set aside more budget this time as the handsets are said to cost more. The spokesperson of one of the three South Korean telcos told ETNews that the retail prices of the Galaxy S9 handsets will go up although the price points will not make...

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus review

You won't find a bigger and better Android phone than the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, thanks to its oversized 6.2-inch curved screen and low-light-defeating dual-lens camera. Sure, it looks exactly like last year's S8 Plus, but it does fix the fingerprint sensor location (it's now center-aligned on the...

Impressive dual-lens camera; Better-placed fingerprint sensor; Loud stereo speakers

Not all that different to S8 Plus; AR Emoji mode is overrated; Expensive for 0.4 inches of extra screen

Goondu review: Samsung Galaxy S9+ wows with its updated camera

By now, anyone who has the faintest interest in the Galaxy S9 and S9+ would have caught a glimpse of Samsung's latest flagship or even got their hands on one after it was launched a fortnight ago.

Samsung changed the smartphone industry last year with the introduction of the Galaxy S8. The world's first Infinity Display smartphone wowed consumers, making it one of the most popular Samsung flagships in recent times. That set a pretty high bar for the Korean company for this year's model.

When we reviewed Samsung's large-screened new Galaxy smartphone last year, the Galaxy S8+ , we described it as "futuristic" for its huge display and edge-to-edge design. But the future arrived quickly afterward as most major smartphone makers, Apple included, adopted some version of a large,...
