If the S6 brought premium design to Samsung's flagship phones, the Galaxy S7 refines and combines those trend-setting good looks with all the features you really wanted from the phones that came before it.

The new S7 and S7 Edge aren't hugely different from last year's Galaxy S6 pair - in fact, they look almost identical but if you look closer you suddenly realise that there is a world of difference.

Samsung hasn't reinvented itself with the Samsung Galaxy S7 or Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but it has produced a pair of very fine handsets, even if Australia doesn't get the fastest possible models. Over at finder.com.au, I've reviewed both handsets prior to their 11 March official release.

Samsung's Galaxy S7 fixes the main problem of the excellent Galaxy S6, namely the lack of expandable storage, while tweaking other elements such as the gorgeous design to make them even better. The result is a very good flagship phone, although not quite perfect.

Samsung Galaxy S7 is better than Galaxy S6 in some areas, but I'm finding it hard to justify the upgrade from the previous flagship to the new device. I like the fact that Samsung has greatly improved in many areas, especially design.

While the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge were very much about revolutionising Samsung's smartphone portfolio, the company has instead set about refining the experience this year. Did it achieve this? Most definitely.

In 2015, Samsung finally took design seriously. By doing so, they created a line-up of Galaxy S and Note phones that featured metal frames and glass panels with jewel-like appearances, on top of next-level specs. The S6 series, along with the Note 5, were nothing short of amazing.
