Samsung Galaxy S5 review: still good, still ugly

The Galaxy S5 never quite lived up to expectations, but it was still a top-end 2014 phone, and is a decent mid-ranger now. It's the kind of phone where every software angle is covered.

Great display; Good camera; Excellent battery life; Water-resistant

Slow and uneven interface; Lots of pre-installed apps

Galaxy s5 from AT&T.

everything about the phone is pretty great. I wish it had a better camera though, like at least a 16mp rather than the 13mp. Being on AT&T I noticed it's the only carrier that has no option to get rid of the "Make sure you cover the charging port" notification every time I disconnect it.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Review

For the past four years Samsung's Galaxy S series has been the pinnacle of the company's extensive smartphone range and formidable competition to the likes of Apple, HTC and Sony. Very good image quality; Spritely performance; Stunning screen; Water and dust proof; High resolution panoramas; Great battery life; 4K Ultra HD video capability; MicroSD slot

Slippery; uninspiring case design; Lacks optical image stabilisation; Underwhelming macro ability; No optical zoom

Overall I am happy with this phone

Overall I am happy with this phone. The only hesitation I have is that when it is on speakerphone, the person I am talking to experiences distracting extra noises.

The best and worst smartphone you can buy

The original Galaxy S was a rare case of getting everything right: speed, ease of use, beauty. For Samsung, the Galaxy S was where the magic first happened. Now, the company is trying to make some more with the Galaxy S5.

Fantastic screen; Great camera; Waterproof (IP67; Biometrics

TouchWiz; Big
