Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

Though the switch to glasstic is a bit of a disappointment, there's a lot to love about the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE - including the Snapdragon 865, a first for UK fans, and a gorgeous 6.5in 120Hz AMOLED display.

Beautiful 120Hz AMOLED display, Great battery life, Snapdragon 865 (on 5G model)

'Glasstic' body, Limitations on video recording, Have to pay for faster charger

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

Free from gimmicks, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE appears to hit all the right notes. We think it could well be the pick of the S20 bunch - especially at this price point.

Great display, Flagship performance, Great speakers, MicroSD expansion, IP68 waterproof

Fingerprint scanner a bit hit and miss, No 3.5mm headphone socket

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

2020 is the year of big phone families, and Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Series is nearing Brady Bunch numbers. Latest to arrive is the Galaxy S20 FE 5G, described as the “Fan Edition” but also the most affordable of the line-up.

Most affordable of the S20 family, Excellent 120Hz display, Cameras are capable of great shots, Solid battery life and performance

Plastic body betrays the cost-cutting, Low light camera performance isn't the best

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G delivers all the phone performance most people need at a price more people can afford.

Fast processor, Excellent cameras, Long battery life

No Space Zoom, Not the absolute best low-light camera performance

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

By trimming the fat from its highest-end Galaxy handset, Samsung inadvertently made one of the best Android phones of 2020.

Competitive price. Large display with a buttery smooth 120-Hz refresh rate. Day-long battery life. Versatile cameras. Speedy performance. Support for 5G. Wireless charging. Water resistance. The plastic back means one less area to shatter after a drop.

The fingerprint sensor is unreliable. The cameras over-saturate and aren't quite as good as the Pixel 5's.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

Praise be to the mighty Samsung, for it has heard our pleas of “ good freakin’ grief, phones are getting too expensive .” In its infinite wisdom, it hath remade the Galaxy S20, flagship from earlier in 2020, with slightly cheaper materials and components.

Flagship hardware, Almost no compromise on features, Big, beautiful screen, Solid battery life

Phone's a little big for my taste, Deep camera bump, Camera downgrade versus S20

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

A PhoneArena review of Samsung's value-for-money price champion Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) as we check out its day and night time camera samples and zoom quality, battery life, and the interface performance.

Excellent value for the money, Impressive two-day battery life, Bright and flat display with high 120Hz refresh rate, 3 years of Android version updates and up to 3 years warranty, Good pictures and video quality, Very good stereo sound recording and playback, Durable housing in a variety of matte...

The 5G model is only available in a 6GB RAM/128GB storage version, The screen colors are a bit on the cold and saturated side, Display is Gorilla Glass 3 only but it does come with protector pre-installed

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Snapdragon - Cloud Navy SM-G780GZBDXNZ review

When the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G was announced, I have to admit I was confused. I wasn’t sure what this device was all about and where it fits into the already crowded Samsung mobile space.

Very nice design, I like that the screen isn't curved and the display is flat, Nice build quality even with glastic, Good software experience, Good performance, Very good camera for this price range, Great battery life, Outstanding value for feature set

Speakers aren't great, Camera's low light performance isn't the best

Best value for money.

This phone is hands down the best value phone money can buy. It has everything you need in a phone for such a low price. The 120hz screen is unmatched and I can go back to 60hz now. The screen overall is very good and is a beautiful 6.5 inch oled. Speakers are loud and very clear. It also has IP68 water and dust resistance which is a really nice bonus. Along with NFC and wireless and reverse wireless charging which are flagship features are on this phone. Also the 5G capabilities is nice future proofing and the 865 processor is fantastic. Cameras are also brilliant if that's what you look out for. Overall, everything about this phone screams flagship and you get that all for an incredibly low price!

Can't complain, high end specs for a fair price

Bought this on the Black Friday and I'm happy so far. I noticed people complaining about touch display glitches and about the accuracy of the fingerprint sensor. None of that has been an issue for me. I found the on-screen fingerprint sensor more convenient than the one on the back of my previous phone, a S9+. I've configured a lower display rate and the battery gets close to 20%/30% every other night. So I've been using the phone for two days on a single charge. Full disclaimer: I'm on wifi most of the day and only occasionally play lightweight games on the phone. I thought the front camera notch would be more annoying but it has been ok. I took a picture of a darkish room with the night camera it looked bright as day.
