Samsung Galaxy Buds review

There might be more expensive earbud models around that give a more refined sound, but it’s hard to think of another pair at this price that combines solid audio, sleek design, comfort and the ability to block out unwanted noise. The design and operation of the Samsung Galaxy Buds is slicker than the likes of the TicPods Free, while the noise isolation and flexible design give them the edge over the AirPods, not to mention that £20 saving on price. Even though the superb Ambient Noise feature doesn’t work on iOS, we’d choose the Buds over the current AirPods for our iPhone-powered commute. But with Apple expected to launch some next-gen AirPods in the not-too-distant future, Samsung may have to up its game again pretty soon.

Comfy, flexible, noise-isolating design; Ambient Sound mode is awesome; Wireless charging; They also work with iOS;

Battery life could be better; Touch controls take some getting used to; Ambient Sound doesn’t work on iOS;

Samsung Galaxy Buds Review

The Galaxy Buds offer better sound and fit than the AirPods, but if you're willing to look elsewhere then there are better performers available for a similar price

Great fit; Discrete design; PowerShare will be useful for Galaxy S10 owners;

Better sounding sets available; Prone to drop-outs;

Samsung Galaxy Buds review: These Android-friendly truly wireless headphones don't dazzle, but they're good

Let's start with what's good about the Galaxy Buds ($130, £139 or AU$249), the third iteration of Samsung's Android-leaning answer to Apple's AirPods.

Although their sound quality doesn't wow, the Galaxy Buds are certainly worth considering if you're a Samsung Galaxy or Android phone owner.

These compact, lightweight noise-isolating true wireless earphones should fit most ears securely; They sound decent, battery life is good (around 6 hours at moderate volume levels) and their compact charging case offers USB-C wired and wireless charging.

Bass isn't all that deep; charging case only delivers a little more than one full charge; certain features only work with Android phones.

Good buds

They are good though sometimes drop out. Love the fact I can see how much power is left (when the phone and buds communicate with each other)

Tinny and Uncomfortable

These absolutely pale in comparison to Samsung's old wired, AKG-tuned earbuds, which themselves cost a tenth of the price. They're uncomfortable in the ear after any real amount of use, sound tinny, and are prone to white noise issues when trying to produce certain tones. Good for podcasts and not much else.
