The Rode NT1-A is a cardioid-pattern, large-diaphragm condenser mic. It is probably the quietest mic you can buy for a measly 350 dollars. It boast an impressive signal input noise of just 5 DB, better than many professional quality condenser mics.

Great mic for a home studio. the bundle is just great with a good shock mount and pop shield attached to it making it easier to hold in place. totally recommend.
I am using the mics for live theater. I know WHAT? But the specs make them work great, high gain before feedback and no noise (hum, hiss, ect) even being place right next to the high voltage light bars!
This mic was the first mic I ever bought. 6 years later I still turn to this mic to give me the sound I'm looking for. Don't be fooled by the price tag. This mic is the quietest mic on the market and will provide you with exceptional quality.
The Rode NT1-A is another entry into the ever-growing field of affordable large-diaphragm condenser mics. It lists for $349, but I found $199 to be the common street price on the internet [Editor's note – scroll down to see all current online sale prices for the NT1-A].
i have had this mic for a couple of years and have used it to record pretty much everything; although its particularly good on vocals. the dynamics are sometimes a little wobbly, with big peaks appearing from nowhere. solid build. solid cradle.
This mic from RODE is guaranteed not to disappoint you. It has a budget price but this doesn't affect the sound quality.
very good sound; high bang for the buck value; low noise
cheap accessories; no bells and whistles
