Panasonic Lumix TZ90 review: The ultimate travel camera?

With phone cameras getting so good these days, the traditional camera needs all the stand-out specification goods possible. When pocketable convenience from your mobile handset isn't enough, and you want a boost of proper optical zoom to shoot far-away subjects, then there's no other logical option...

Adds tilt-angle screen; easy touchscreen control; 30x zoom versatility in pocketable body; mode dial and lens control ring for easy adjustment and functionality; 4K Photo is useful

Low-light and full zoom limitations due to limited maximum aperture; image quality in low-light isn't the greatest (especially versus 1-inch sensors); viewfinder will be overkill for some

Panasonic Lumix DC-TZ90

Panasonic's latest superzoom travel compact camera, the Lumix DC-TZ90 (also known as the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70), follows on from last year's TZ80 to bring a 30x optical zoom (24-720mm equivalent) combined with a 1/2.3-inch 20.3 megapixel sensor.

Panasonic has been pushing boundaries lately, by fitting a lot of high-end technology into its compact line-up. The TZ90 is no exception, bearing the weight of some of the Lumix range's best features on its extremely slimline shoulders...

I have just got this and I can't use it yet so can't comment on much. Its much bigger than I expected. It says pocket sized but they must mean a large coat pocket. Worse than that there is absolutely no memory. Technically this is not a camera as I have to buy memory to allow it to work.

Daily Camera

I purchased the TZ90 to replace a well used and sometimes abused TZ10. This is a very capable camera and after 2 months I'm still finding new features; I don't believe this is a camera for a "Happy Snapper", while it's very capable at that level it's more advanced features make it the perfect in my...

Great Camera; Easy to use and great photos; What more do you want; Not interested in wifi but included; The auto view finder is hard when wearing glasses but a must

Great value for money

Really good camera. The zoom is brilliant and the pictures come out amazing even when using the zoom at full capacity. Was worried that images may become blurry due to hand movements when zooming in but the stabilisation is really good. 4k videos come out crisp. Would highly recommend

Great little camera

I recently bought a Canon Ixus 285 for travelling with (my DSLR kit will be too heavy for the flights!) but it proved to be a very disappointing purchase. I bit the bullet and opted for the TZ90, having previously owned a TZ5 which served me well on a trip to Australia some years ago.

Bit overpriced

Bit overpriced. Video quality good, however quality of photos is no better than a $100 camera.

Perfect

Looking forward to trying the camera out on an upcoming trip to Vietnam. Saw the same one being used on my last holiday in December and the photos were excellent hence my purchase. Fast delivery service from U.K. Digital.
