The OnePlus Nord is almost a great phone. And there’s no qualifier here about the price, it’s just damn near a great phone. You can nitpick things like the plastic frame of the phone, lack of expandable storage, or the hole-punch camera, but the only true downside in my opinion is the camera...
OnePlus Nord is easily one of the most talked about smartphones of 2020. Keeping aside the hype, you simply cannot ignore how similar the Nord is when compared to the flagship OnePlus 8 smartphone.
So… it's time to draw the proverbial line in the sand. Is the OnePlus Nord good enough? And is it a "flagship killer"? To the first question, the answer is a big yes, and for the second one, I think it’s not quite there.
Very aggressive price; outstanding value for the money; Gorgeous AMOLED screen; Fast performance; 90Hz support; Very fast charging (30W)
Colors in photos are a bit muted; lack a bit in liveliness; No telephoto camera; macro lens is a gimmick; No headphone jack; no expandable storage; Loudspeaker quality is average; No wireless charging
OnePlus has made an emphatic return to the mid-range market with the OnePlus Nord – it's an affordable smartphone that's packed with features. There's a great screen, plenty of power, and a set of capable cameras, all wrapped up in a package that belies its affordable price.
Affordable with flagship qualities; Premium design; Plenty of camera features;
Average battery life; Limited notifications space; No IP rating for water resistance
It’s hard to argue with the OnePlus Nord’s value proposition and this once again begs the questions of why you’d pay more for a phone anymore. This could easily be a five-star device if it had a true standout feature, but it’s still easy to recommend as one of the best cheap phones around.
Great quality OLED panel; Very quick charging; Lovely version of Android; Nice, ergonomic design; 5G and great performance;
Screen seems to mark very easily; Secondary cameras are pretty much useless;
The OnePlus Nord gets its priorities right, delivering flagship fundamentals without the fluff - all at an astonishing price.
90Hz AMOLED display; Fantastic main camera; Oxygen OS software;
Poor macro lens; Plastic frame; No wireless charging;
With 5G, a solid lineup of specs and a beautiful, vibrant design, the OnePlus Nord ($685 at Amazon) offers a hell of a lot for a reasonable price. At under 500 euros (about $570, £450 or AU$820), it's significantly cheaper than its $999 flagship sibling, the OnePlus 8 Pro. This phone packs a potent octacore processor, a vibrant 6.44-inch display, an in-display fingerprint scanner and 5G connectivity for ultrafast data speeds. All of that's wrapped up in a great-looking blue body that feels anything but cheap. Add to that three rear cameras that take decent shots and two selfie cameras, and the Nord is as well-stacked as any of today's elite handsets.
5G, great specs and a low price -- the OnePlus Nord has everything you'd want in a 5G phone.
Affordable price; 5G-enabled; Attractive, vibrant design;
Unavailable in US; Not water resistant; Frustrating fingerprint scanner;
OnePlus Nord is light and robust with perhaps the market's best screen compared to the price.
Light and robust phone with perhaps the market's best screen for the price. Excellent front camera with ultra-wide angle, lightning fast 5G, fast charging and good battery life
Anonymous and semi-boring design, no built-in stereo speakers, ultra-wide angle night mode does not work, and performance is not overwhelming.
