Olympus E-M5 Mark II Review: Weatherproof, Great Photos

The E-M5 Mark II is one of the best cameras for candid shooting, and certainly the smallest, as long as the lighting is good. Autofocus is quick in most conditions; five-axis image stabilization keeps photos and especially videos steady as you move around, and the alloy body with weather sealing...

Petite; weather-sealed body; Excellent photo and video quality; Five-axis image stabilization; Large articulating LCD with tap-to-focus; Electronic viewfinder

Overly complex interface; No built-in flash; Autofocus sometimes sluggish in low light

As a camera brand, Japan's Olympus always has the feel, for me, of an ingénue, bravely squaring up to the big beasts, Canon and Nikon. And yet it is relatively old-school, equally known for medical and surgical instruments as well as other items, from face creams to plastic kitchenware.

Beautiful retro design. Pro-level controls. So small . The Olympus OM-D E-M5 was the mirrorless camera for discerning photographers. Three years later, it's finally getting a update in the form of the new E-M5 Mark II.

Image stabilization is second to none

Image quality hasn't improved in the three years since the original EM-5 was released; despite still being very good

Great weather-sealed body; Image quality cannot be questioned; Loads of features

Resolution now too low; High resolution mode needs a tripod; Price is high

The E-M5 II uses a Micro Four Thirds sensor similar to the one in the previous model – it once again offers 16 megapixels of resolution – but Olympus says the Live-MOS chip has been...

The Olympus E-M5 Mk II has all of the functionality of a D-SLR in a sleek, retro-styled body. It's a fully comprehensive camera with the ability to change lenses, shoot RAW, compose through its viewfinder or dial in exposure values using the twin command dials.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Review

Even though some of the improvements in contrast to the previous model are not as revolutionary, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II is a great looking device which took the original concept and set the bar higher.

Five months have passed since my first review of the OM-D E-M5 mark II . I had the chance to test it before its official announcement and as such, I decided to concentrate on the many new features that camera has to offer.
