The Nokia 5.4 is the brand’s latest budget contender. Though it has a sturdy, attractive design, its poor cameras, inconsistent performance, underwhelming screen, and lack of personality mean it is poor value compared to its closest rivals at the price point.

Looking over my list of pros and cons, I'm a little annoyed. Not only does this Nokia carry so much potential in the 5.4 compared to its predecessor, it fails to live up to the opportunity given to drive a message to its competitors.

The Nokia 5.4 is as Nokia a phone as it could have been. The strong points are stronger than ever. Consistent performance, clean Android with no preloaded apps or bloatware, strong battery life and well, it is Made in India as well.

Nokia 5.4 no doubt stands tall on what Nokia brand is known for. It has got solid build quality, good battery life and a clutter-free user experience. However, at the starting price of Rs 13,999, the smartphone lacks that something extra.

It has a pre-installed screen protector, a clear phone case, a USB-C charger and an earphone. I hope Nokia can keep its word "2 years Android upgrades".

I'm an undemanding middle-aged phone user. I wanted a phone with enough space for apps, enough speed and memory to cope with everyday tasks, a large clear screen, a decent camera, a headphone socket and a memory card slot.

The Nokia 5.4 looks great on the surface, but compared to its predecessor and much of the budget competition, it's a hard sell.

Nokia 5.4 is the successor to the Nokia 5.3 announced in the early days of March, 2020. The major upgrade in the new comer includes a larger 48-megapixel main camera, better selfie snapper and of course, a more compact overall bodily profile.
