Nikon Z6 review

Well over £1,000 cheaper than the Z7, the Z6 is the full-frame mirrorless camera to buy. Unless you need those high-resolutions for landscape photography and very large printing. The stunning new mount has opened up a load of opportunities for astounding optics and uncompromised image quality, and Nikon have announced a whole new range of Nikkor Z lenses, so there’s no signs of slowing down. The Z6 was a joy to use and managed to do exactly what was required for the desired shot, and based on that, there’s really nothing to complain about.

Excellent handling ; Speedy AF;

Battery life could be improved ;

Nikon Z6 Review

The Nikon Z6 is a well-built full-frame mirrorless camera that produces excellent stills and 4K video. Autofocus is reliable most of the time, including during burst shooting, though selecting a subject on which to track is clumsy. The camera's built-in image stabilization works well on native and 'classic' Nikon glass. Battery life isn't class-leading, and some improvements related to manual focus in video should be addressed, but overall Nikon has a winner in the Z6.

Everyday shooting, video;

Sports and action;

Nikon Z6 review: Fabulous full-framer

Arguably the most well considered and capable of any full-frame mirrorless camera on the market. Nikon has got the lens mount right, the quality right and, despite strong competition from Sony's well-established range and Panasonic's forthcoming S1, we think any photographer would be mad to not give the Z6 a look in.

Great image quality; Huge potential from new Z mount lenses; Adapter for old lenses; Ease of use for existing Nikon users; Fast autofocus/burst mode (12fps); Silent shooting possible; Electronic viewfinder is of great quality and scale; Highly capable autofocus system;

Single XQD card slot an odd choice; 24-70mm f/4 lens vignettes a little; DSLR continuous AF still has the edge; Not a full vari-angle screen (tilt only); Better battery life would be great; No EyeAF autofocus; It’s rather expensive;

Nikon Z 6 Review

Nikon is tipping its full-frame mirrorless camera system with two bodies and a trio of lenses. The Z 6 ($1,999.95) is the 24MP option, with 12fps burst shooting speed and a noticeably lower price tag separating it from its twin, the $3,399.95, 45.7MP Z 7. Its mirrorless design puts focus right on the sensor, so it offers a significantly wider area of focus coverage than an SLR, and while native lenses are a little scarce, an adapter adds compatibility with Nikkor SLR lenses. The Z 6 is a strong option for any photographer shopping for a full-frame camera, though we give preference to our Editors' Choice, the Sony a7 III, a third-generation design that's a bit more refined and has a larger lens library backing it. Twin Bodies, Different Capabilities Nikon opted to use identical body designs for the Z 6 and Z 7—the same approach Sony uses with its similar pair of cameras, the 24MP a7 III and 42MP a7R III. It's a plus for photographers who may utilize both a Z 6 and a Z 7—all of the ...

The Nikon Z 6 is the company's high-speed, full-frame camera with a 24MP sensor and a class-leading 12fps burst rate. It's a strong debut thanks to excellent ergonomics, in-body stabilization, and 4K video.

24MP full-frame sensor; 90 percent autofocus coverage; 12fps Raw continuous shooting; In-body image stabilization; Tilting touch LCD; Big, sharp EVF; Compatible with Nikon SLR accessories; 4K video; Dust and splash resistant; Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

Baked-in Raw adjustments; Oversensitive lens control ring function; Single memory card slot; No PC Sync socket

Nikon Z6 Review

Fantastic handling; Excellent electronic viewfinder; Great in low light; In-body image stabilisation good for handheld shooting; Intuitive touchscreen interface;

Only three native lenses at launch; Screen only tilts (rather than fully articulates); Battery life limited compared to a DSLR; Just one XQD card slot;
