This lens is incredible the photos I got off this are so sharp especially doing long exposure on light trails; It's easy to focus on stars too which is excellent as I love taking star and night sky photos; Definitely recommend this lens

I purchased this lens mainly to use in low light situations when my 18-140 was too slow. It is also considerably lighter, compact and sharp.

AF-S NIKKOR lenses feature Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM), which represents a significant advance in AF lens technology. SWM uses ultrasonic vibrations-rather than a gear system-to focus the lens, providing incredibly smooth, silent and precise autofocus operation.

I would say for this lens in Nikon system as a "Must have" if you have a budget for it and like to shoot low light and indoors; Would be happy if Canon can offer something similar; Very sharp even wide open; 35mm f1.8 Dx I don't think is a micro

Build quality not up to pro standards; but for this price no complain

The 35mm ƒ/1.8G DX fills an obvious hole in Nikon's lineup, and with its very reasonable price point Nikon may have found a way to ride out the recession. In our tests, the lens performs very well, with good results for sharpness at ƒ/1.8, becoming excellent at ƒ/2.8.

It's not quite as sharp as the $1,800 35mm f/1.4G, but it's darn close for $600.
