The D850 looks like the perfect do-it-all DSLR for professional photographers, but at this price it could appeal to a large number of ambitious amateurs too. It does have a couple of limitations, but overall its combination of resolution, continuous shooting speed and 4K full frame video is just...
Spectacular levels of detail; 7fps; 9fps with grip; 4K full frame video
Lower buffer capacity at 9fps; Needs fast memory cards; Pedestrian live view AF
Many people find this camera extremely innovative and advanced that meets the needs of this modern world. It has a lightning-fast system that many users simply love while the image quality is said to be top-notch.
Tilting touch screen LCD; High shooting capacity of 9 fps; Autofocus to -4 EV to enable you to capture in low light; 4K and 8K time-lapse using interval timer for the latter in camera; Great incredible detail with the 45.7 MP FX-Format full-frame CMOS image sensor
Charger does not include plug or power cable; Thumb pad is smaller and therefore; inconvenient; Video feature is not too useful with being handheld
Where does one start It does so many things incredibly well. This isn't an upgrade to the D810 (which I own), but a completely different beast. Nikon has had built-in time-lapse for a long time. In the D850 it has brought it to new heights. It shoots 8k and 4k video.
All of the 5 star reviews couldn't be more correct. I have been a faithful owner of Nikon cameras forever and this one is light years above my previous camera. The clarity of the random photos is phenomenal! I must admit, it will take a while to learn what all I can do with this D850.
The Nikon D850 updates the Nikon D810 from 2014 and is a significant upgrade, with an all-new 45.7mp full-frame BSI CMOS sensor, fast continuous shooting at 7fps (up to 9fps with battery grip), 4K UHD video recording, a tilting 3.2inch touch-screen, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Excellent image quality possible; Excellent noise performance; Variety of Auto White Balance options; Improved focus performance; Impressive battery life; 4K video recording; High-speed FullHD video; Large; clear touch-screen
Remote control app is extremely limited; Slow live-view focus speeds
The D850 is an incredible camera for camera for hybrid shooters that need full-frame 4K and world-class still capabilities.
Either way, my personal feelings don’t at all negate the fact that the Nikon D850 is a fantastic camera.
A dependable beast of a full-frame camera that should be top of the wishlist for pros and enthusiastic amateurs alike
Super high-res sensor capable of incredible detail; Burst mode makes it good for action too; Weatherproof and extremely well built; Incredibly crisp optical viewfinder; Silent shooting mode is a useful extra
Centred focus points sometimes means recomposing; XQD cards are expensive
The Nikon D850 is a full-frame or FX format DSLR with 45.7 million pixels on its backlit CMOS sensor. It sits below the Nikon D5 in the company’s DSLR line-up and above the D810 (which is set to continue).
