There's a sweet spot when you're buying a camera, where you get amazing image quality and an excellent feature-set without having to splash out maximum cash on a top of the line, chunky pro-grade digital SLR, lenses and accessories.

Even though the D7200 doesn't disappoint, it's tempered our love affair with the D7000-series.

My previous camera was the Nikon D7000. The D7200 is a much better camera overall. Faster to acquire moving subjects (mostly birds). Locks on focus better. Is definitely sharper. Better low light capabilities. My capture rate has gone up and the photos I am producing now are sharper and clearer.

The Nikon D7200 makes the 2-year-old D7100 look like a terrific deal. With only minor improvements over its predecessor, the D7200 remains a great camera, but given the D7100's lower price, the D7200 is a tough sell unless you're a night owl or long burst shooter.

Nikon introduced the successor of D7200 in a similar looking body, like most upgrades in the FX series. But it improved upon the very thing the D7000 and the D7100 were known for – speed.

The Nikon D7200 makes the 2-year-old D7100 look like a terrific deal. With only minor improvements over its predecessor, the D7200 remains a great camera, but given the D7100's lower price, the D7200 is a tough sell unless you're a night owl or long burst shooter. Once the D7100 evaporates from the market -- or the price stops dropping and starts rising -- then the D7200 will seem more compelling. It's the same pattern the D7100 faced over the D7000 before it.

The Nikon D7200 is a great camera for the money, as long as you don't care about an extensive feature set.
