Nikon D7000 Review

As the D90 and D300 introduction dates approached two years in the rearview mirror, rumors of impending successors began to fly. It appears the D90 question has been answered by the D7000; those of us awaiting the D400 will probably get our answer in September 2011, but given the impact of the D7000...

Excellent image quality; Excellent at high ISO; Fast; accurate AF

Some highlight clipping; Awkward mode/release dial; 1080 HD somewhat choppy

Nikon D7000 Review

Having extensively tested the Nikon D7000, it's easy to understand why this camera ranks up there in popularity, even with a $1,200 price tag. Simply put, if you're serious about photography, you want this camera.

16.2MP APS-C DSLR; Terrific photos; Very responsive (6 fps; Top ISO of 25,600; Fast focusing; excellent detail

Hard to find and forget about a price break; Weird Release-Mode dial; Heavy noise above ISO 10,000-which is pretty amazing anyway; HD video still problematic

Nikon D7000

The Nikon D7000 is a remarkable camera for the money. Features such as the large pentaprism viewfinder, dual command dials and a top-mounted passive LCD screen distinguish it from entry-level consumer models, but its magnesium alloy body and dual SDXC card slots – used for overflow, backup or...

Nikon D7000 review

It is now more than three years since Nikon introduced its 12.3-million-pixel D300 and 12.1-million-pixel D3 cameras. With the exception of the 24.5-million-pixel D3X, every enthusiast and professional Nikon DSLR has featured a variation on one of these two 12-million-pixel sensors.

The Nikon D7000 is a digital camera that is exactly half-way between the entry-level SLR and those devoted to photography enthusiasts looking for something more advanced. It integrates a number of features and technologies that make it a very interesting product.

Generally camera manufacturers tend to follow a well-defined update path and it's usually pretty clear which model is meant to be replaced by a new one. With the announcement of the D7000 Nikon has - to a degree - broken with this pattern.

Good detail and dynamic range (even better in RAW; Exceptionally low shadow noise in RAW files; Arguably the best high ISO performance of any current APS-C DSLR; Good build quality and handling; Maximum ISO of 25,600 st full resolution; 1080p HD video mode with basic editing built-in; Efficient...

Tendency to overexpose in bright sunshine/high contrast situations; ISO button is poorly positioned; and cannot be assigned to any other control point; Ditto white balance: poorly positioned; cannot be re-assigned; Exposure mode dial slightly loose; and easily knocked; Shooting mode dial can be...

Hands-on Report: Nikon D7000 DSLR Camera Review

Prior to launching the D7000, Nikon had some big shoes to fill in its prosumer/semi-pro line of cameras. Predecessors include the very popular and highly regarded Nikon D80, and the Nikon D90- recently rated as the number one selling DSLR camera in Japan a full two years after its August 27 release...

Nikon D7000 review

Challenging the perception that latest is always best, the 16.2 megapixel D7000 remains a fantastic step up camera for those who have outgrown entry level digital SLRs, indeed for anyone wanting to upgrade from older mid-range models.

Feature-packed; Robustly built; Long battery life

Pricey; Bulky; LCD not angle adjustable

Nikon D7000 review

A solid step up from the D90 , D3100 or other entry level DSLR's, the Nikon D7000 is only let down by mediocre video and sound recording,

Great daylight performance; accessible features; fantastic build quality

Average video options and performance; heavy for its size
