The Nikon COOLPIX W300 is a waterproof rugged compact, so let's start with its rugged credentials. It's the most waterproof compact currently on the market, with a depth rating of 30 meters – that's twice as deep as the Olympus TOUGH TG-5 and 10 metres deeper then the Fujifilm FinePix XP120.

I bought this camera to use when I am on the water and in my kayak. The camera takes excellent pictures and has survived contact with the water perfectly. The SnapBridge capability took some time to get working properly, but photos show up on my iPhone without any work by me. Nice feature!.

Amazing camera

I had high hopes for this camera. I wanted to replace an older Canon camera which I have used in the past for underwater pictures but required a bulky underwater housing. Surely the newer rugged underwater type cameras must be an improvement.

Though it's not the cheapest example at a manufacturer's suggested £389.99, the all weather, JPEG-only Nikon Coolpix W300 is in our opinion one of the best in its class, if we're talking pocket sized, ruggedized action-come-travel cameras.

Nice looking, easy to use and durable. I haven't traveled with it yet, but I think it will be good for a beach vacation.

Great name of camera - Nikon. Have been very happy with previous Nikon products used. This is definitely the exception. Picture transfer has worked once. Hours spent trying to get pictures out of camera to computer. Followed Nikons instructions, UTube videos only to get the same message every time.

Im not a great photographer, so I was looking for an easy camera to use while snorkeling in Mexico that took great pictures. One note, it does take a minute for the camera to adjust when you first put it underwater (I missed a huge fish that swam away by the time the camera was ready).
