Another bird image

I wrote one of the first reviews for the P900 camera, with two images attached, a cruising jet and a sparrow portrait. Unfortunately, the sparrow image disappeared, I don't know when and why. to replace it, I'm attaching a recent image of a Fieldfare (Turdus pilaris), handheld, at the telephoto end.

The first Coolpix P900 I bought on 4/23/2018 for the Pink Concert the next day. It took great long distant photos. But all the videos had a loud distorted sound over the videos. My daughter post the videos on youtube. I took my nikon L820 and the videos I took came out great.

Nikon Coolpix P900

The 83X optical zoom on the Nikon Coolpix P900 is far ahead of the competition, covering an ultra-wide 24mm to a super-telephoto 2000mm focal-length, besting not only other ultra-zoom but also any lens on the market, even when considering crop-factor!

Smooth usable output until ISO 1600; Very consistent image sharpness; Highly effective optical image stabilization; Virtually no chromatic aberrations; Very low optical distortion; Dual control-dials and zoom controllers; Generally quick and responsive; Good overall handling; Great LCD visibility,...

Slight image softness from base ISO; Details smudged from ISO 800; Below average color and WB accuracy; Dim telephoto aperture noticeably slows AF; Unresponsive while writing; 1s delay when starting video capture; Not usually Exposure-Priority; Slow access to ISO; Tiny low-contrast EVF; Poor tripod...

Good telephoto, but...

I purchased this camera the day it came out...March 19. After trying it out around our yard, I decided I't take it instead of my Nikon D300 and an extra lens on our Alaska trip. Big mistake. When you go to Alaska, you want the best photos you can get.

83x Zoom; Lightweight

Not Sharp Enough Focus; Too Slow Focusing

Nikon Coolpix P900 Review

The Nikon Coolpix P900 is Nikon's latest ultra-zoom camera, and features the World's longest optical zoom lens, with an 83x optical zoom lens, equivalent to 24mm wide-angle zooming to 2000mm at the telelphoto end.

83x optical zoom lens; 2 year warranty; Large rubberised grip; Side zoom control; Effective image stabilisation; Good EVF and vari-angle screen; Moon and bird watching scene modes; HDR mode built in; Wi-Fi / NFC connectivity; GPS/GLONASS built in; 0cm macro mode; Electronic level

Large and heavy; Does not offer RAW shooting; Panoramic images could have more detail; Tripod position could be better

Nikon Coolpix P900

The Nikon Coolpix P900 is a bridge camera which features the current market leading zoom ratio of 83x optical zoom. That gives you an equivalent of 24 - 2000mm in 35mm terms. There's also a Dynamic Fine Zoom - a type of digital zoom - which boosts this up to 166x, or 4000mm equivalent.

This is NOT a toy, enjoy!

At first look it's like a p510 on steroids! Then the fun begins. The zoom of over 80x is stunning, smooth and clear. I think that the digital zoom becomes irrelevant. The new style screen is great, with flexible positioning..

Nikon Coolpix P900

Pros: Massive optical zoom Fast f/2.8 f stop @ 24mm wide LCD monitor that flips out and can rotate WiFi GPS Vibration reduction system Cons: No raw (wouldn't use this for pro photo's anyway) No hot shoe Slow at processing manual changes and burst shots Bulky Other thoughts: I always shoot in manual,...

CAMERA IS NICE, THE REST IS GARBAGE.

The camera is nice, but is available elsewhere for less. Problems: 1. This is an international model, comes with the warranty card removed from the box. 2. The accessory bundle that comes with it is completely worthless, except for the UV filter that I use as lens protector. 2a.

Love it

I love this camera . I use this everyday and it amazes me . Of course at full zoom its difficult to focus unless its on a tripod and picture quality is average but to be honest you have to expect it for £500 with a zoon of this size.

Durable; Great Features; Great Picture Quality; Lightweight; Not too bulky; Simple Controls; That zoom

Slow focus; Unsteady focus at full zoom
