Nikon P900

With unprecedented optical zoom range for a fixed lens camera, extending all the way to a 2000mm eq. optical reach, and with an approachable price tag of $600, the Nikon P900 is a great value for anyone needing extensive zoom range in an all-in-one package.

Farthest zoom reach for a fixed lens camera (2000mm eq.); Good image quality for its class; Good vibration reduction; Fast aperture at wide angle (f/2.8); Excellent value for the price

No RAW file recording; Limited capabilities in low light, including struggling with autofocus; Lens not as sharp at full tele end; No hot shoe

Nikon Coolpix P900 Review

When I offered to review the Nikon Coolpix P900 for Photography Life, I told Nasim I felt like a comedian rooting for Sarah Palin to become president so he'd have four more years of material. C'mon, 24-2000mm zoom combined with a 1:2.3" sensor? The comedic potential seemed endless.

Nikon Coolpix Digital Camera - P900 P900 BLACK review

It's not the best megazoom around, but the Nikon Coolpix P900's lens is remarkable and if you need the most zoom on a compact camera, it's the winner.

The Nikon Coolpix P900 features an unmatched 83x zoom lens allowing you to use it for just about anything from close-ups and landscapes to portraits to birding and wildlife photography.

It lacks features more advanced users might want like raw image capture, a hot shoe and mic jack; Images are soft and lack fine detail when fully zoomed in; The autofocus system can be hit or miss and is slow to focus in low light; The lens does make it heavy compared to other megazooms.

Nikon Coolpix P900 review: Unprecedented zoom range, but unremarkable photo quality

The word "whopping" doesn't really do justice to the zoom range on the Nikon Coolpix P900.

It's not the best megazoom around, but the Nikon Coolpix P900's lens is remarkable and if you need the most zoom on a compact camera, it's the winner.

The Nikon Coolpix P900 features an unmatched 83x zoom lens allowing you to use it for just about anything from close-ups and landscapes to portraits to birding and wildlife photography; It has a decent electronic viewfinder, flip-out rotating high-resolution LCD, manual and semimanual shooting modes and built-in Wi-Fi and GPS.

It lacks features more advanced users might want like raw image capture, a hot shoe and mic jack; Images are soft and lack fine detail when fully zoomed in; The autofocus system can be hit or miss and is slow to focus in low light; The lens does make it heavy compared to other megazooms.

Nikon Coolpix P900 Point & Shoot

Great Bridge Camera with awesome zoom capabilities upto83x combined good service by snap deal

I had nikon p510 decided to upgrade to nikon p900 ; Though i know canon is also hinting on sx70 but looks like a long wait ; With this one it's no miss ; Got what I expected , taking you close to nature with massive zoom 83x combine with wifi .

Build is good, gives a good grip and u feel like holding an SLR; I bought it for the zoom and I got exactly what I wanted..; Zoom is incredible!!!!....; I shot stuff 2 kms away from my terrace with full zomm and the image stabilization is very good, as good as my SLR.

Nikon Coolpix P900

The 83X optical zoom on the Nikon Coolpix P900 is far ahead of the competition, covering an ultra-wide 24mm to a super-telephoto 2000mm focal-length, besting not only other ultra-zoom but also any lens on the market, even when considering crop-factor!

Smooth usable output until ISO 1600; Very consistent image sharpness; Highly effective optical image stabilization; Virtually no chromatic aberrations; Very low optical distortion; Dual control-dials and zoom controllers; Generally quick and responsive; Good overall handling; Great LCD visibility,...

Slight image softness from base ISO; Details smudged from ISO 800; Below average color and WB accuracy; Dim telephoto aperture noticeably slows AF; Unresponsive while writing; 1s delay when starting video capture; Not usually Exposure-Priority; Slow access to ISO; Tiny low-contrast EVF; Poor tripod...

The Nikon Coolpix P900 , ( buy from Amazon ) is capable of yielding fairly good quality images at low ISO setting (100), but as with all small (1/2.3 inch) sensor cameras, image quality drops off rapidly as ISO is raised. This is because the noise reduction required at even moderate ISO settings...

Good for me but may bad for some people

Good product . Thats what i needed. Thank god didnt get dslr because such zoom range was impossible on dslr. Images at full zoom are like cell phone quality although at 500 mm zoom images are sharper
